Hey y'all. I just picked up a 2005 1500 with a blown 4.7l engine for $300. The interior is nice and my dad needs a decent work truck for his handyman business.
I currently own a 2005 Grand Cherokee with a now pissed off beefy 3.7l. that blew it's engine about a year ago. So, I've been down this road before a bit.
I'm all for replacing the engine in the truck, but I'm wondering and I'm hoping someone can answer my questions that I can't seem to find on Google, lol.
There's a junk yard near me that has a '05 engine 4wd with only 80k miles for around $800 then a '06 engine 2wd with 105k miles for $300. The kicker with these, they were from Grand Cherokees.
I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out if the tooth count is the same between the two. I see that the transmission is good. I'm not wondering if they're compatible enough to just throw in and hook up.
Do y'all have any insight you could provide? If it's possible to use the same wireing harness, it'd be awesome to be in this truck for under $2k. I appreciate ya'll, looking forward to this group!
