Trying to find a 5.7 hemi for our 2011 2500. Will a Hemi from a 1500 work? I was told by a wrecking yard the crank is slightly different and won't fit. Is there any truth to this.

I'm no expert on this but I would think the cranks would be the same on a 5.7 Hemi. Now if you were going to a 6.4 I would think there would be a difference.

I agree with whetrick1.

If you try to swap in a 5.7 from a truck to a car then you have some mods to make so it will fit. But truck to truck 5.7L motor swaps, regardless of the suspension and load rating differences between a 1500 vs. a 2500, are not an issue.

what happened to the stock engine? just curious. I was going to suggest if you got a 5.7 from the same year 1500 I figured it would be a direct install.

good luck

5.7L Hemis in the 2500's don't have MDS, not sure on which 1500's came with MDS, so you'll need an engine from a truck with no MDS on it.
Again, not sure of the exact years, but I know the heads and maybe more will be different on an MDS equipped truck.
