Anywho got a 2020 5.7 ram 1500 non etorque. Noticed a bad almost knock more than the previous ticking sounds, all symptoms point to cam lobe failure. With that said once verified, was planning on upgrading the cam, lifters (possibly whole heads), rods, mds delete kit, ect. I know I’ll need to get a unlocked ecu, and a tune got those already lined out but as I’ve never got another vehicle cam swapped I’d hate to start stacking parts just to buy the wrong stuff. Probably won’t go over about 10k on parts and tuning but want the most power it can handle without swapping the trans (yet).

What I’m asking here is if anyone’s done anything similar and what mistakes I can avoid from the jump. Like I know it sounds stupid but I’m sure not all parts will match up like I couldn’t just pick whatever valves, springs, and rods however I saw fit and expect it to just work with the cam?
I’ll be asking dumb questions, I’d rather do that then waste money, and this is going to be done by me and a few mechanic buddies but I’d also not like to waste their time, so once it hits the lift I got as much as humanly possible to get this a painless as possible.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada.

One of the best in the business right here!

Pick your kit and have a great experience.

They have complete kits that don't require tunes or upgraded TQ converters.
Or, go more aggressive and get a HP Tuners set up, and then an upgraded stall TQ converter as well.

If you're going to upgrade and not worry again about stock parts failing; FRP is something to check out.

Also, as I was recently educated by those on here smarter than I, do stick with the OEM lifters, and perhaps go with solid lifters vs hydraulic lifters, especially if going the MDS delete route.

My $0.02.

Probably over on miles. With these new expensive vehicles always always get the extended warranty. My 2019 is covered through Mopar to 2028 or 85,000mi.
