Headed up to the cabin with 1800lbs of hickory flooring......water damage to our ash floors.....long story....anywho....13.5mpg with 1800lbs up the mountains.....225 miles at 65-74mph, not babying it....up the mountain passes I was at 69-70mph

Then 225 miles back home empty.....15.7mpg not babying it at 70-74mph.....

Very pleased with that on these tires....no tunes 100% bone stock drivetrain and 87 octane.....

I'd be a happy camper with those numbers.

If the government was really serious about lowering emissions and fuel consumption they would lower the speed limit instead of imposing ridiculous CAFE standards for automakers.

All that aside, my old childhood friend has a 2007 Mitsubishi Raider with the 3.6. I asked him about his fuel mileage. 13 city, 17 Hwy at 65-70 all evic. That's a bit lower than I get!

When the limit was 55mph people did 65-70, now that the limit is 70mph on most of the route I drive, amazingly people stay in that 70-75mph range.......

I was very pleased with those figures and with 1800lbs in the bed strapped down, the truck didn't squat much at all.....of course bumps were much more enjoyable with the weight back there. You knew the weight was there on the turns and stops but the Hemi had no problem moving the load down the road and up hills.

Very impressed with this engine and truck.

And the A/C was on as well as I used Tow Haul......because I was Hauling...... :) and I wanted the added downshifting without manually doing it. It worked well.

People will drive where they're comfortable, without regard for the speed limit. All speed limits do is generate revenue. If we could get everyone towing to keep it below 65, I would be happy.

The thing is the people who couldn't do 55, couldn't do 65, and can't go 75. Its true, people who speed are going to speed no matter the posted limit. However, every speeder has a threshold of how far they will push that limit. Some keepit to 4-5 over. Others think 9-10 is ok. Then thete are the few who are just going to drive however they feel. Speed limits are not just for revenue. Speed is a major factor in most highway traffic deaths.

I live at the start of one of the major arteries from I94 to the Bakken. Speed limit was 70day/65night and trucks was 65day/55night. Because of all the speeding, dangerous passing, and deaths from it they imposed a hard 65 limit for all vehicles to try to get them all doing one speed and lower the need to pass. By hard limit, if you do 68 to pass and get caught you will get a ticket. Even with the rules and less oil traffic at the moment, people drive like idiots. Passing in curves, passing on the shoulder, passing the car that is passing a car... yesterday I took the barracuda to a car show on that road and 3 times nearly witnessed a head on. One was so close I literally blurted out "OH ****!" as I hit the brakes.

Since it is a mileage thread.....

After 450 miles with 50% with 1800lbs payload yesterday....today we towed 2 horses 85 miles round trip......about 6000lbs combined I'd say....not too heavy but heavy enough to know it is there. 10.2mpg fighting some head and cross winds mostly 65-68mph 85% highway miles.

I missed my diesel a little on the hills fighting the headwinds.....but only because I had to press the "Go" pedal to 3rd gear to maintain 64-68mph.......but I will tell you this.....as soon as the rig shifted down to 3rd we were at 68mph+ before I could look at the dash......

Tow/Haul seems to love 3rd and 4th.....which is fine.....but I'm still getting the hang of the quirks.....

Need more than my 7.5" drop for my 4 hour tow on Thursday for a 3 day horse show in NY......we were tilted back a bit more than I like, I'm **** about things like that. So another 1" or so on the ball height and I would feel better.

Can't say I'm not working this truck........the 3 dressage queens with me (one being my wife) loved the Longhorn comfort and leather interior

I'll blast out my #'s, 4,300 miles, EVIC is reading a bit over 17.
This is mostly highway with little traffic. The first 2K, I was at 16, with more city driving. I had the tires at the time at 80 all around. Now I am at 75 back, 68 up front.

I will add mine, so far....only 500ish km so far, started just shy of 15L/100k, it is now bouncing between 16 & 16.5.
Mixture of driving & no towing yet of course.
These are all EVIC numbers.

I have a brand new 6.4 with about 150 miles on it. I had no choice and had to pull an empty 2 horse bumper pull 2800lb trailer. The trailer was extremely un level because of how high the truck sits. The front set of tandems was barely touching the ground. I averaged 7.5 mpg over 40 miles of flat no stop highway at 60 mph. Please tell me it will get better before I suck on a gun. I came from a diesel f250 and have to pull an 8000 lb camper next week. This mileage is terrible. On the flip side i averaged 18mpg on the highway at 65 mph.

It gets better. I broke mine in according to the manual and pull a 6k trailer every weekday for work. I get around 10-11 mpg in town pulling it around. I have just above 3500 miles on mine. I've heard it can get even better with some more mileage. But I was only getting a mile per gallon or so better with my 5.7 HEMI in my 2012 1500.

As you can see from some of my posts in this thread, I tow a 2 horse Hawk (3200lbs empty and about 5500-6200lbs fully loaded.

With my larger tires and 3.73s I am getting 9.5-12mpg towing this setup, I got about 10.X yesterday with plenty of head and cross winds and rolling hills.

I also came from a Diesel F250.....a totally worked over 7.3L and while towing is different with the 6.4L, I don't miss my 7.3L as much as I thought I would. On large hills with wind I miss the diesel, at the gas pump and during the 6-8month long winter blend season here....I won't miss a thing.

Your mileage should be in the same range I get once it is broken in.

I also got 13.5mpg with 1800lbs in the bed on Saturday for 225miles....with significant mountain and hill country.

Put the gun down....give it 15K miles.....

Towed two horses and gear totaling about 6000lbs in the trailer and 600-700lbs of additional payload in the rig 180 miles each way (360 total) through the Berkshires with some good sized hills and grades. Got 10.3mpg and 10.2mpg going and coming back.

Seems pretty consistent from my other tows.

Seems to make an ass-ton of power from 2500rpm up........so Tow/Haul, loves 3rd and 4th gear on grades. I'm starting to get a better feel of the pedal on getting it to slip from 4th to 3rd gently vs. an abrupt downshift to 2nd.

On two lane highways when you get stuck behind a big rig which slows to 50-55mph on hills it seems to be able to sit in 4th at that speed on moderate hills with no problem.

Overall, very happy with the way this rig tows the horses. I'll take 10-11mpg with those hills.

Used 87 octane for 1st tank for around 300 miles and got 15.3 mpg (EVIC) 14.2 mpg (hand) mostly expressway w/a little in town stop and go. Was disappointed with discrepancy, but the Titan readout was off about the same and it got worse mileage so for a 2000 lb heavier truck I'm still smiling from ear to ear with the 6.4 Hemi. I know the truck weighs in at around 7100 lbs so I'm not expecting miracles and relatively happy knowing it should increase over time.

I put 89 octane in for second tank. This tank has been hilly, rural 2-lane roads 7and city. So far seeing 12.5 EVIC, but only 100 miles so far with the 89 octane. This is my normal daily commute. I will be towing 100 miles round trip next weekend pulling 6500 lbs with 1000 lbs in bed/cab so I'm anxious to see how it does MPG wise. I'm gonna go back to 87 octane for that short trip.

I have run 85(here in the mountains), 87, 89, 91, and 88 pure gas. The gas has never seemed to make any sound, mileage, or drivability difference.

Just pulled my trailer (6500 lbs) for about 50 miles @ 50-60 mph on my 3rd tank of gas and EVIC says 9.2 mpg. Not overly excited, but it's just over the "alright to tow" mileage so hoping it improves.
