I can't believe I missed this when you first posted it up. This has got to be one of the most thorough engine builds I've seen in a while. Great work on it man, that's really some impressive stuff.

Thanks man. As far as I know this is only the second 2nd gen ram to have a 5.7 Hemi running in it. It was definitely a ton of work to get this far and it could've been less but I went kind of crazy while I had everything apart anyways! I mean that's the best time to do all these other mods right?

haha exactly! Once you start taking everything apart, it's kind of impossible to just do one thing. Fortunately you have some real skill and turned it into an awesome project.

Ya especially since the truck is only a summer driver I wanted to do everything I could to clean up the engine bay. Totally blew any budget I had for this build out the window in under the first month lol. It's all worth it though and I love how its turned out. Way better than I could've imagined it would.

Only engine code I'm throwing so far is for the EVAP system which isn't converted yet since I can't find a parts truck.

Damn man right on!! Can't wait to hear this beast!!

Camo Ram

Thanks it sounds so sweet!! I'm sure it sounds better in person than the vid but you'll get the idea lol

Nice work brother! Post up vids of it running, can't wait to see that.

You using the stock converter or did you swap it out? You could probably use the EVAP parts from a junker 2000-2001 Dakota?

I've still got the crappy stock converter in it for now. I wanted to swap it out for a 2800-3000 stall but the bank account wasnt agreeing with me on that one lol.

My truck still has the factory 98 EVAP system right now but I need to swap it out for a 05 ram setup that has the NVLD pump. Only hard part with that is its next to impossible to find any dodge trucks at wrecking yards or anywhere else near me. Truck is running fine without it for now so I'm not to worried about it for now.

Oh and I've got a video of it running loading onto youtube right now. I'll post the link once its done

Haha ya that's almost exactly how I felt the other night when it started!!

Anyways I got the ratchet shifter installed yesterday.

Also had the truck running again and found out my passenger side fuel rail has a hairline crack and is leaking :( so I ordered a new set of Arrington billet fuel rails today. Also ordered a new alternator since this one is toast.

Thanks guys and I'm really liking the looks of the shifter to. It definitely made my life easier when hooking up to the tranny.

I'm actually going to look and see if I can find a pistol grip style handle to try and make work and replace the cheap looking ball knob with. My cousin was the one that gave me that idea lol

Well got my new driveshaft back and installed on Thursday. New billet fuel rails also showed up but they forgot to send the crossover kit to join them together!! The missing parts will be here tomorrow.

So since I've been stuck waiting on parts I decided to spend some time giving the truck a much needed bath!

Fingers crossed on a test drive tomorrow night.

Well first test drive was less than a mile long tonight. Got tranny problems already.

P0765 - shift solenoid D malfunction

Still trying to figure out what exactly this is and how to fix it now.

I do have a spare tranny but I was really hoping to get more than a mile out of this one before swapping them lol.

Thats nice work! Hope you can get the Trany sorted out! I'd love to have a Hemi in my '99 but as of right now, 188k miles and the trusty old 360 is runnin like a champ, if it ever blows on me I might look into something similar....or a Cummins! LOL

Thanks man and I'm hoping the tranny will be sorted out tomorrow after the quick learn is done at the dealer. My old 360 was also still running strong but I got a good deal on the Hemi and couldn't wait for the 360 to ever finally blow. My 360 might get used for a build on my cousins 96 ram in a couple years.

Thats a hell of a swap

Thanks ill be happy when I can finally drive it though! Lol

Update on the tranny problems. Dealer tried to do a quick learn this morning but the truck wouldn't take it. I did find out part of my problems though.

According to the dealers scanner the TCM thinks its in neutral all the time. This is because either my TCM is not receiving the signal from the TRS or the TRS is not sending a signal.

Time to start digging into the wiring a bit.
