On my 99 Dodge QC 4x4 V10 5 speed I don't drive it much but every so often I will start it & the ABS/Brake lights come on. If I shut it off & restart it they go out.
I have replaced the rear ABS senor in the rear end a few years ago. I had new front brakes & rotors installed a year ago. The truck only has 87,000 miles. It was & is used for pretty much nothing but towing.
Brakes work fine.
I'm thinking a dirt connection???
Thanks in advance.

the abs sensor you replaced is the speed sensor correct?

I just had to do this also on my truck.....replaced it with a napa part and its been working fine ever since

You may have a loose/bad connection. take it apart, clean both ends and see if that helps

also check your brake fluid. If its dirty you may want to change it.

The sensor in the rear diff isn't the abs sensor I don't believe... They should be at the wheel end of the axles like on the front hub and I think they are inside the drums if it has rear drums. The sensor in the diff is the vehicle speed sensor that reads your speedo

On the front and rear axle just follow the only wires that go down towards the wheel lol. My truck is a 2000 with ABS on front but my axles are older so they do not have ABS so no connecting the wires. My ABS and BRAKE light stay on all the time.

my brake light came on and then my abs

I drove for a few more miles then i lost my speedo and odometer

I replaced the speed sensor in the rear differential and it fixed all four issues

the speed sensor must have something to do with the abs/brake light

Yea I'm sure it does because the abs probably needs the vehicle speed to help. But on the front there should be one sensor at each Hub

For some reason my ABS light went on a few years ago & the sensor in the rear end was broke. Got it changed & it solved the ABS light. But I also thought the ABS sensors were at the wheels.
Anyway a 1000 mile trip & no lights or issues. Avg 12.4 mpg @ 72 mph. Not bad for a V10 4x4.

Thanks for the responses.

Rear speed senor is also the abs sensor. 4wd trucks do not have front abs in these year trucks. 4wd only have rear abs. Fsm is a great place to get info from.
