I normally think most hood scoops look cheesy, but I found one I liked and took a chance with it. I think it turned out good...gives the front a whole different look. While it was at the body shop getting painted, I also had them re-paint my gas door. A few years ago, I bought the Mopar gas door that's only available in chrome. At that time, I had matte black wheels, bull bar, steps, etc....so I had it painted matte black. Recently removed the bull bar and changed the steps and wheels to gloss black, so I had it re-painted gloss black this time. Here's a few pics:

Thanks! Totally agree with the black accents. Next on my list is either all black badges or maybe the black vinyl overlays that go over the badges but shown chrome around the edges. If I could find all gloss black badges, I'd go that route, but the only ones in gloss black are the front/back Ram's head.

It's made by MrHoodScoop, bought it through brodydogauto.com

Can't say I had the best experience with them though. I ordered it pre-painted and it was supposed to ship in 5 - 7 business days. Ended up taking just about 3 weeks to get it. Then, opened the box and it wasn't perfect. The one corner had a small chip in it, but it was painted / clearcoated right over the chip. Another area had a oval shaped blemish in the paint...looked like they burned through the clear coat slightly when buffing it. After a few emails with the place I bought it from, I agreed I would have my local body shop repair/re-paint it and they were supposed to refund me the $100 I originally paid to have it painted. A week later and a couple emails....still no refund.

Glad to see someone posting on these scoops. I’ve been looking at them for the last 6 months debating about getting one. Sounds like overall its a good product other then the paint issues???

Thanks for the tip! So it looks like these are bolt on, but optional to adhere with some 3m. How did you choose to mount it?

Overall, definitely a good quality product. Comes with a nice black grille insert too. You do have to drill a couple holes in the hood to install it though. The place seems to have good reviews...maybe I was just unlucky and had issues with mine. Also, I ordered directly through their website. In hindsight, I probably should have ordered through their Ebay page, in case I had issues.... it would have been backed by Ebay.

Online it shows 3M tape with optional bolting. When I rec'd it....the instructions said it had to be bolted to keep the front tips tight to the hood. Originally, I planned to install it myself. But, since I had to have it re-painted, I just had the body shop install it too. They drilled / bolted it.

Good to know. There's no going back with what I've done with my truck, so bolt on will work. Have been looking for awhile as well, but has been hard to decide without seeing some good pics. This one definitely fits the bill, great choice! Thanks for posting..

No problem....the forum is great for info. My only suggestion is if you have a good local body shop that you trust....go that route and get it unpainted. I have a great local shop and normally do that....took a chance and got it pre-painted...even though I know better! Won't make that mistake again.

Yeah, based on your feedback, I'll either dip it to match all my other trim or will get it painted locally. Thanks again!

I put one on my 07 that looks like yours. It sure dressed up the flat hood. I had my local body shop paint it to match the rest of the hood. I am not a fan of that dip crap, because it is only a temporary cover that looks nothing like real paint.

Reminds me of the old SRT10 style hoods.

Had one on my 2007 MegaCab and I keep wondering what my 4th gen 2500 would look like with one.

Thanks for posting the pics.

:happy107: Looks awesome! Is it functional? ...Wondering if this could sit on top of a Vararam CAI. Been toying around with a functional hood scoop but concerned about water getting inside (Texas Rainshowers).

It's not functional....but I'm sure with a little ingenuity it could be.

I see you've taking pictures low to help with the looks...

mind taking one higher up and closer so we can see what it looks like on the hood?

It's just about dark outside, so I cant get more pics tonight. I do have this one though...taken from above. This should help a little bit with how it fits on the hood and how much of the hood it takes up. They really contoured it left to right and front to back to match the curvature of the hood. Also, there's two different hood scoops available for the 4th gen Rams. I went with the larger one that covers more of the center portion of the hood. It's mounted 1/4" in front of the washer sprayer nozzles.
