Any idea why I my truck won’t rev high in neutral

So I have a 2015 ram with headers and an exhaust so every now and then I want to rev the engine to show my buddies how the beast sounds . However when I stepped on the gas after putting vehicle into neutral (truck still moving) it seemed be limited .... can anyone shed some light on whether this is normal or not?

The truck as limiters on it, theres no reason to rev an engine high in neutral.

Its got a revlimiter built in so silly peeps dont blow their motors.

Computer controlled throttles maybe, won't let engine overrev.

Yeah that exactly what's happening. Only way to eliminate that is by a custom tune.

There absolutely is a reason to rev it!!!! I know enuf to not blow the engine . I wouldn’t rev it into the red by any means but Sometimes u want to hear the exhaust and he beefy v8 ! I have a custom tune but prob would need to request it b removed . Not that big of a deal .

Now that you mention it, yes I believe you can modify the stock tune with a tuner to eliminate the rev limiter...

Even the rebel supercharged won't free rev. Nor will my friends Challenger RT. Though he did say if he gives it a quick stab first he can fool the machine and let it rip.

Turn off traction control, nail the gas, light 'em up and let you buds hear and see it scream like God intended. Sounds way better with a resistance load on the motor anyway.
