Any way to rig up a light to show the AC compressor on?

Is there a way to wire up the AC compressor to a led in the cab to show when the compressor is on. I would like to see when it actually turns on and off. Would it work to wire it to the clutch power?

I'd do it in a second. Clutch is 12V as long as you don't try to run a rack of halogens off it everything should be OK.

This is actually a "cool" idea thanks and I'll be adding a little dim green LED to mine now to show when the compressor is on. You can sort of "hear it" anyway but always nice to know.

been wracking my brain.... just wondering what the point of knowing when the compressor was on would be.

no idea why either what is the point of knowing when the compressor is cycling.
If it some interest in knowing the AC is working, an actual suction line temperature would be more informative.

When used for defrost it turns the AC on when you have air going to the windshield. And i want to know when it turns it self on. Mostly because i can do it....

We do get 40 C (100 F) in the summer up here. And we use as as a defrost in winter (-30 C) (-22 F) as well as a to keep us cool in the summer months.
Got a guy who just moved to Houston from Calgary. He's been here for training in the summers, but never lived here, I told him to trade his sleeves in for sleeveless.

When you get the light installed post it up, I wanna do this as well.

Edit: I'll find the wire to tap with my TL this afternoon.

Dark blue wire with yellow stripe is the one you need.
