Yea that hitch is like 1/4" plate.... some thick metal to drill! Looks good tho!

Thank you for the pictures, I am now on the hunt to find the shaft mount. Apparently it is sold out everywhere.

I bought the lights from amazon and they were out of stock. Thank you for the link I purchased it from there.

I assume you mean the tailgate bar? It is kinda hard to see in truck butt pics without serious zooming

so I asked this question in another section with no answer so i'll ask here. Can the factory trailer be removed from the mount to access it better? I wired my lights to that with some wire taps and now I had a bad or loose connection and my lights are so dim I cant see them. i can move the wire tap and they come on bright as ever but go away after some driving.

When I put this thing in reverse at night other cars in the lot just stop and wait. LOL

Tinted back window on the cab and tinted rear glass on the camper shell, if it not for those lights I couldn't see a thing when backing at night.

I tapped into the reverse light wire on the trailer harness...

Any local shop that does body work could set that up for you. Probably wouldn't cost that much either, so long as you provided the lights. Cutting the holes and mounting things up would take maybe 2 hours labor.

Redo the wire tap or it’s a bad ground

I replaced my backup bulbs with LEDs and installed 7" LED bars to the Hitch pipe.
Pictures are of lights on and off, backup view screen and the welded tab to the hitch pipe.

here's my red 1500 with custom brackets, that thing throws out some serious light! and my 2500, cut the bumper and put a bit smaller, more reasonable lights in.

Do you like the lights being higher up? I have wondered if the lower down, under bumper provide enough light up higher on a trailer.

I have the same bolt lock. It holds up well to winter. I like your LEDs' beam pattern too.

I added 2 up top that are on a switch but the bottom 2 come on when you put it in reverse.

Did you drill through the camper and run the wires inside or did you run them on the outside?


I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas
