Since I’m gonna be crawling under my 2016 (3500 crew cab 6.7 srw) to do my fuel filters, and swap out a bad belt tensioner here in the next couple weeks. Figured since the truck has 36k on her and seen temps ranging from 100 in the summer to -20 in the winter it’s time to swap out the fluids once it’s warmed up a bit more around here, been reading on the net and YouTube videos, and getting a huge mixed bag of what oils to run in the rear and front axles, everything from 75w-90 royal purple, to amsoil 75w-90 severe gear, to Mopar 75w-90 and even 75w-85, and I’m guessing factory Mopar will work just fine (she’s made 36k on the moor factory oil [emoji2369]) but then comes in this curve ball, some swear by, and others scream “HELL NO” to “friction modifier”, so my head is spinning a mile a minute, what the hell do I put in this damn thing??? It has the snow prep package (aka anti-spin rear axle)

Truck does see pulling (snowmobile trailers in the winter, and a 700mile trip pulling an enclosed trailer in the summer down the interstate at speeds up to 80mph for 4-5hours one way)

How much oil does the rear diff hold? And the front?

Are the factory gaskets “reuseable” or should I buy new ones?

How much oil does the transfer case hold?

Anything else I’m missing here I should be doing also at 36k maintenance wise (I would look in the manual right now. But I’m at work, and my truck is at home in the driveway)... I need this truck to last me years (aka 10+, so rather spend a few bucks now to save $1000’s due to **** maintenance)

Im assuming you have the 44-46 or 44-47 transfer case so the fluid is just regular transmission fluid ATF+4.

It kinda got a transflush on ram already, my pan gasket was failing at 26k, so they had to drop the pan and the redo the rtv gasket, and ended up putting in 8 quarts or so of new atf (id have to pull the service record which is in a folder inside my truck)

75-90 gear oil is fine but 75/140 will give better protection unless you live in the arctic circle. Or Alaska.

Film strength is your friend in your differentials

Does New York count? Not uncommon to see temps at 0 and where I go snowmobiling can get down to -20 to -30 with ease

Cool.

Good.

Jist so you know. Transmission (and everything across the sun) are FREQUENTLY discussed on the “synthetic oil” thread. Lots of info there.

Long story short.... the shortes OCI on this trans you can afford the better. Most guys on that thread are not going over 30,000. But it had been recommended by rebuild shops to to it at an astonishingly low 10,000 miles. Im doing a fluid change once a year and a fluid/filter change every other.

Visit the syn thread to get some good help and info.

I got to go to bed sir,
Good night.

Have to look up a thread/video on the flush (drain/fill if that’s what it really is) and look into it, if it matters, I run my evic on the temp screen all the time, and even pulling. Warmest the trans ever gets is 177-180, normally 168-172 driving and pulling

Visit the thread if you search results are not good. We have links. And NY is not cold enough to matter. Im in Michigan.

You have to be in serious cold all the time to NEED the thinner fluid. Like -20’s and colder .

Ok.

Rear diff 4 quarts
Front diff 3 quarts
Transfer case 2 quarts (44-47&44-46)
Blinker fluid 2 oz

With these 3......
Parked on flat ground, fill until fluid starts to com out the fill hole

What gear oil you going to use sir? The syn thread recommends Redline or Amsoil. 2 of the best gear oils.

Blinker fluid also!? Dang, guess I need to trade my truck in now!!! Lol

I was internet searching last night on the net, and price wise I’m leaning abit towards the redline
