I want to black out the emblems. They are for sale for about 150+ for all of them already painted. How easy is it to take them off, paint them and re install them? Also what paint should i use

I don't know what people use on them, but I wouldn't consider taking them off and installing them as a better reason to spend the $150. You'll be doing that anyways.

How about plasti dip. I blacked out mine in the truck in about 1 hour. Looks great and cost about 10 bucks.

Plasti dip.

Get some blue painters tape. Tape around the emblems really good. Clean them with some Isotropic alcohol mixed with water around 50/50.

Then put 4-5 coats of Plasti dip on them.
Make sure to check out the you tube vids on using plasti dip.

Will cost you under $20 and some of your time.

Probably best to just take them off unless you dip them. Plastic paint is gonna obviously adhere best, I used rusto plastic paint on some plastic parts for my headlights and stuff and it holds up really well. I'm gonna use dupli color black chrome kit on my emblems and see how that turns out

Yeah, I don't have any black on my truck so I feel the dip would be out of place... just factory chrome through the roof... Not a fan of chrome. Never debadged anything. Is it easy?

I painted all mine with some black plastic paint. (don't recall the brand) What I did was debadge them. The easiest way is to use fishing line between the emblem and the 3M, and run it back and forth (See article below) But after the painting was done, I used some old trim glue on the back of the emblem to restick to the remaining 3M tape. I'm sure there's better ways to go about this. But that's what I did.

I got the front and rear Rams head emblems in gloss black from eBay for $40. Not too bad. You should be able to find the rest on there as well for less than $150

Debaging is easy to do just time consuming. If you debadge and add new badges dont buff the area so you have a shawdow to go by when you put the new badges on. Theres multiple youtube videos and many different methods, i found using a heatgun makes it harder to peal off the double sided tape once the bage is removed. I used thin nylon twine and then peeled the tape off cold, it peels off easier if you pull it toward you instead of pulling up. I bought the front and back blackout rams heads and eliminated the rest.
