i have a 2009 ran 1500, 4th gen. i am purchasing a new box. i’m wondering if there is any preventative maintenance i should do that would be easier with the box off, the truck has 214000 km.

check the frame, wiring, fuel lines, other frame bolts, clean excess mud/dirt off the frame especially in hidden corners.

some people go as far as painting the frame with POR-15 or a similar product. it's up to you how far you want to go with it.
