Burning rubber smell from inside cabin while driving..

Okay so in the past 3 months I have been smelling this burning rubber inside the cabin while I am driving back and fourth to work. It is not all the time, but when it comes it will last for 10-20 seconds, then dissipate.

I did some research and one of the most common candidates to this was the tensioner and belt, so I changed that and the smell has since returned.

It doesn't smell electrical, definitely smells like rubber.


I am stumped on what it could be. My truck is throwing no codes.

Mind did this for about 6 months when it was brand new. Dealer**** said oh this is just a new truck smell everything is breaking in. A month later ut was gone and never came back. I wonder if they got undercoat in your exhaust or something.

Had the same thing ... Turns out it was the heater on high blowing on my brand new cheap-ass Chinese Walmart duck boots ... Tru story
