Oh, I figured it added two days to the task. I'm excited to get the tune nailed down. I have a sense that that the low end will suffer a little but I look forward to see how hard she comes on once launched.

If the HP/Torque curve I pulled off the internet is right it looks like fun. Lol, are you guys really shifting at those 6K+ rpms?

I bet that thing screams to 6500+ !!! I shift my sidewinder at around 63-6500 now and it loves it. That larger cam should really like the extra rpm

my comp 260 seemed to like the 6200 rpm shift, I remember being on a open back road so I stomped it from a dig, an right as the truck was bout to shift to 2 I hit a bump that was across the whole road. An as I columned it to 2 the rear end hit it an must of lifted the wheels a tiny bit cause I seen the rpms go to about 6800, this was like two weeks after I put in the cam an springs lol

Haha, I'm amazed you guys can read the tach. I relay on a shiftlite. I figure a small block wants a little rpm..... ;)

IDK, I loaded the custom trans tune I got along with my PCM tune but haven't modified it. All I know is that at maybe 3/4 throttle it shifts around 4500 but a few times when I've kicked it down into 2nd prime it's jumped up to 5500 which makes my heart jump. New motor but still the old trans with 160K.

Well things didn't go so good today. Went out to the truck and it fired up but after a couple of minutes the "check Gauge" light came on. No oil pressure. Did the Gauge Cluster check and it was good. Pulled the oil sensor and no oil pressure. Dropped the pan ugh.... no blockage. removed the pickup tube and it was clear. Looked the best I can at the pump and don't see anything wrong. Ordered new pump from Summit 'Mellings M342". Will pull the front of the motor tomorrow to get at the pump.

Interesting, never heard of an OiL pump failure (I use the 6.1 Pumps on both my rides) on these mills. The Mellings sounds interesting. Please update if you confirm the root!Danny

Danny, the Mellings have been around forever and have always been known for being high volume pumps. Pulled the pump and disassembled it. It is pristine, it is not a problem. With that said I didn't disassemble the bypass valve but it looks to be closed. Did find a tension pad on the timing chain set *******'d. It was also cockeyed when I did the cam change and I snapped it back with a nice solid snap. Thought it was good to go. This time I changed it out for a Crower timing chain set with the degree pins. Actually the crower is a OEM set with a hole drilled for the offset pins. "O" ring on pickup tube looks good. flushed the pickup tube and it is clean. I welcome any ideas concerning what is wrong here.
Thanks,

I get Intermittent dash chime and oil pressure guage loss/bounce when its really cold out. I have replaced the sensor itself and problem still happens on occassion so I beleive its maybe the wiring from the sensor into the harness is just old and perhaps corroded and I have yet to follow up and do a 100% inspection. Your troubles could be the same coincidental bad guage connection and perhaps you actually still have good pressure but can see the concern if you truly beleive no oil is being pumped up.

Is there a way to test?? other than running the truck with a valve cover removed (AKA like a Chevy valve adjust 1970's era) or can you screw like a compression tester into the sensor mount to verify (asking cause I do not know).

The Timing chain tensioner on these Motors only last IMO approx 100K miles after which their reliability is hit and miss. The Crower Chain might be the next one I buy too but the Magnum has a real 6.1 with the white sliders and 4 bands (so I was Told by the Builder whom I trust). Danny
