Can I put 33 inch tires on a stock 2020 ram 1500 classic?

I have the stock 265/70r17. The wheels are only 7 inches wide. I'm looking at Mopar's website and it doesn't seem like I have many options on larger sizes because of how narrow my wheels are.
Basically, I've narrowed it down to two sizes; 275/70r17 or 255/80r17.

The stock 265/70's are 31.6" x 10.4"
the 275/70's are 32.2" x 10.8"
the 255/80's are 33.1" x 10"

Ideally, I'd like a taller tire so I think I'd want the 255/80, but I'm not sure what I will be sacrificing, if anything, by going to a 0.4" more narrow tire. Also, are there any clearance issues with running a 33" tire on stock wheels and no level kit?

I would also love to hear your tire suggestions! I'm looking for something aggressive looking, but I don't go off road that much so I would like them to be good on the road and not so loud. I would like to be able to put at least 60k miles on the tires. I've been looking at hankook dynapro at2 xtreme and falken wildpeak a/t3w but am open to all suggestions! Thanks!

285/70r17. Hundreds of people running these tires on 17” stocks including myself, you won’t have any clearance issues. If you plan on doing a level, go with 285/75r17 which is about an inch taller then the 285/70 but no wider.

I'm running 275/60-R20 Falken Rubitrek (33" tall) on a air suspension that goes low and the 33's are no problem.
Research the Falken Rubitreks, they are a great looking tire with better ride quality and lower noise levels than most All Terrain tires.
Smooth & quiet!

Well I feel like a dummy. Last time I looked at that size, I swear I thought all those tires said min rim width is 7.5", which is larger than my rim. But after looking again, I see that I could get the Falken wildpeak a/t3w LT285/70 on a 7 inch rim! Thanks!

Do you think a level kit would be necessary to go up to the 285/75's?

Thanks for the confirmation that the 33's will fit. Those tires look really good too, I will read some reviews on them!

Can’t tell you for sure as I’ve yet to have 285/75s. But if your keeping it stock I think the 285/70s are a good size.

Here’s 285/70 on my outdoorsman which was stock at the time. Outdoorsmans do have an approximately 0.7” lift over other 1500s so it may be a touch higher then yours.

That's a really nice truck man! Seems like the only 285/70's that will fit my narrow rims are LT rated and have no treadlife warranty. Will the LT's wear faster?

I'm really leaning toward the 255/80's because they will fit my rim no problem, and come with a 55k mile treadlife warranty. I just don't want to lose a lot of handling by going to a more narrow tire, and I also don't want it to look weird either..

33's are the stock size tires if you have the 20" wheel package. My Sport originally came with 275/60/20's on a 9" wide rim and are 33" tall

I would never put anything other then LT on a truck, E rated is a must also IMO. Even with an occasional light trailer the difference between E and C is huge, I have a set of C rated duratracs on my truck right now for kicks and giggles and truck was noticeably bucking pulling 1000lbs. Switching back to my E rated wildpeaks I can’t even feel it’s back there.

I haven’t had wildpeaks in a C but I’ve noticed those who complain about them wearing fast seem to always have C rated and those who say they last forever have E so that’s something to think about also. Pretty sure mine had a 60k tread life warranty but I’d have to double check. Also got the discount tire free replacement from road debris etc deal which I have fortunately yet to use.
