There's a good amount of info here . Explains the purpose and advantages of having an oil catch can.
OCC'S are without a doubt benificial for long term ownership of a hemi 5.7L ; however, millions go 100k plus without them and with no notable issues.
Me personally I plan on 200 + k and I'm glad I have an occ ...

Hope this helps .
Are these not needed with the v6?

That would be fine if he were new, but he joined in Aug 2015 and has 901 posts to his name ... sorry but no, that's just pure laziness on his behalf.

Sometimes it's nice for guys like me who don't know about catch cans for it to pop up in the timeline. I had no idea what a catch can was until this thread just happened to pop up. So "his laziness" just educated me. Everyone is here to learn and some people like to browse the time line just to see what they could learn. Don't be so quick to judge and if you don't like the topic stay out of it.

For the information you guys are looking for:

Here is the thread I put up specifically reviewing 3 different catch cans:
http://www.ramforum.com/f26/billet_catch_can_brand_review_bt_upr_arrington-80278/

And here are a few of the 57 catch can thread I've previous participated in with all the info you're asking about. It took me 30 seconds to search for these and I picked the ones with the most replies and views

They are being installed on the pentastar and 3.5L in the cars and jeeps. They're not needed on any of the engines but they are nice to have for those that care.

I put one on mine that I bought from Moe's performance. This is how much mine had in it at 2600 miles. I use my trip b to keep up with the mileage when to check it.

All cars and trucks that have a PCV system filtrates the engine crank case pressure back through the intake system.

Yours is actually worse because you have an internal PCV system that does not allow you to collect the oil that is being pumped through the PCV valve. I have seen countless 3rd gen throttle bodies that had so much oil buildup on the backside that you couldnt see the throttle blade.

Exactly, that's why I keep my throttle body clean, but to be honest, it doesn't get very dirty between cleanings.

I installed my catch can 1200 miles ago with 5200 miles on my truck after reading the various threads here. Before joining this forum, I'd never heard of a catch can . After 1200 miles the catch can is almost half full . I plan on keeping the truck for a long time . For me , spending the $150 was worth it in having the peace of mind that all that oil isn't going into my engine . I ordered the BT catch can in orange from Moe's .

Hemi450HP, is there any type of catch can set-up or certain way to plum one so that it would work with our closed system to keep from having to take the TB off just to clean?

I've seen 2 ways to do it on the 3rd gen. You can plug off the factory PCV, install a PCV and route a line to the intake tube or I've seen the factory PCV drilled out and a tube installed with an inline PCV.

After having a catch can on my 2014, I'm sooooo glad I don't have one again. It was a pain to have to remember about, and I usually forgot. I'll never have another. I don't keep my vehicles long enough to worry about a keeping the throttle body clean anyway though, and on a basically stock truck, it won't provide any huge benefits.

Just my opinion though.

when I did city driving along with highway the cc collected a decent amount of oily crap, when I did 95% highway and 5% city the cc collected absolutely zero gunk. Not sure why but being that the 15 R/T does the same 95% highway I did not have a cc installed. I am fine with that and have no fears and another member mentioned that they do not keep a vehicle for long periods of time, same here so I finally decided not to waste the money.

I am in that boat. I say I will keep something long. But don't.
