I'm on to a problem right now - what is your charging voltage at idle on the RAM 1500 5.7 Gen. 4?
Mine doesn't get above 13.6V, measured at the battery. I have already replaced it, it was the same with both batteries.
I think I read that the alternator of Gen. 4 no longer has a charge controller, but that is controlled by the BCM or PCM.
In the PCM I have an error P058C, maybe it has something to do with it?

Can someone help me?

Thanks and have a nice sunday!

It maybe a faulty Intelligent Battery Sensor, that mounted on the negative battery terminal. It reports the state of the battery charge to the PCM/BCM.
As for the charging voltage, it can range from 13.8 up to 14.4 possibly higher depending on the level of the battery charge

Charge is completely controlled by the computer. Saves like 3 or 4 drops of fuel. Lol. But over the entire line of trucks that puts FCA much lower in the combined fuel consumption.

Do you have stop start? Because it may be the little battery.

Hey, thanks for your answers!
I have a 2014 RAM 1500 5.7 HEMI without start/stop.
I have already changed the battery, previously there was a 68Ah Bosch battery installed, now there is a 100Ah Exide installed.
If I change the battery sensor now, will it learn itself or do I have to go to the Dodge dealer to do it?
Where does the 2 pin connector from the battery sensor go? Then I can still check the wires.

Thanks and have a nice sunday!

The larger ah battery demands more from the alternator, and, the alternator is reflective of the battery needs. If the surface charge is high, the voltage will reflect lower as far as charging EMF. As the other person said, the "intelligent" battery module might be the problem.... Actual hands-on diagnosis is necessary, though. Nobody here or on the phone can fix it. Good luck! :)

Okay, thanks!
But has anybody a wiring diagram to check where the two wires from the battery sensor go to? Tan to check the connection before buying a new one
