Put my MagHytec diff cover on tonight. A little bit more complicated than I thought it was going to be but not bad. I had planned to get a bunch of pics to post but I ended up in a time crunch.
Couple things that might help the next person doing this:
-Disconnect the driver's side sway bar bushing. It makes getting the MH cover on a LOT easier.
-it says the cover takes about 5 quarts but I put 4 qts in and it was over the full line on the dipstick. Will check it tomorrow and update.
-This has been mentioned before on the forum but I'll mention it again, the cover is VERY close to the panhard bar. We're talking less than 1/8" but it does clear cover. I'll get a pic of this and update.
-The factory sealant on the factory cover comes off surprisingly easy. You can almost rub it off with a rag.
-There was no magnet in my diff
-The fill port is the dipstick port on the MH cover and you don't need a pump to fill it. Theres plenty of room to use a small funnel and pour it in.
I recommend this cover for anyone who tows. I do most of my repairs/mods in my folks heated garage which is about 7 miles away. When I drained the fluid it was surprisingly warm for being 25* out. The factory cover was quite warm as well. When I got home which was the same 7 mile drive, I crawled under and felt the MH cover and it was cool to the touch. I have no hard data but from just feeling the cover, it was a huge reduction in heat with the MH.
Also the drain plug and the dipstick of the MH cover have strong magnets in them. Plus it looks badass.
For anyone who hasn't seen the inside of the rear diff here it is.
