In case anyone is attempting this on a 3500 the capacities are slightly different.

Front Dif holds 2.2 quarts (L)
Rear Dif holds 4.2 quarts (L)

so you'll need 7 quarts (L) to do the job.

I bought the OEM fluid for $12 a quart on ebay:happy107:. ($30 a quart at the stealership in Canada:flipthebird:)

Will be using this pump to refill when I do the work, hopefully this weekend.

Bought the pump at princess auto parts. American version would be Harbor Freight.

Still waiting on the oil to show. expected delivery is this Friday.

Confused. We do or do not need the anti-slip additive? I am swapping gears front and back from 3:55 to 4:56 and putting in a Tru-Trac LSD, and slapping on the Mag-Hytec rear diff plate with additional oil capacity (5 qts). Can I use Redline 75W140 GL-5 Gear Oil?

Thanks!

If your using Redline 75-140 GTL then NO , you do not need the friction modifier ,. However , Redline says if you have CHATTER. then use their friction modifier additive ....
Refer toPOST #1 On this thread and make your own choices Sir .

Turns out Redline oil is very versatile ... Tonight I used the weight of the oil to help me bond Halloween yard ornamates together that my wife and I recently made ( mostly her ) [emoji16][emoji16]

Ha ha , I know it looks barbarack and redneck but it works [emoji16][emoji16]f37000ccd47706a96b0a1ffe720b7283.jpg

RLK, would it help if I jacked up the drivers side of the rear axle when draining to get more oil out, and than switch to jacking up the pass side when filling back up to get as much oil in the diff?

There is nothing wrong with draining a little extra if you feal so inclined. Not necessary IMO, but DO NOT over fill it past the recommended level. Too much oil could cause cavitation therefore air bubbles in your oil

Nothing dificult about this but I figured I'd post it up for anyone interested in comparison of their own oil change .

My truck 2014 QC 4X4 5.7L 6 speed xsmn 3.55 differentials, rear Anti-spin (LSD)

This is a test results sheet of popular gear oils , notice Redline is heads & shoulders above the rest .

Hope this helps someone!

RedLine doesn't look good overall. Amsoil looks like the best. I think Amsoil sponsored the test.

Go to "Scoring and Summary of Results" and you will see that the Mopar is second to the lowest in overall score. It doesn't feel right that Mopar would recommend the 2nd to last worst oil for their trucks.

Didn't know too much could hurt. I thought I heard that you could over fill with no negative effects. Also didn't the early 2011 models have a recall on the differential, and they over filled the diff to counter the problem?

It has always been the consensus's that you should not overfill your crank case, transmission, transfer case and differentials because of the concern with foaming/air bubbles in the oil from to much “sloshing”.

Special cases like the one you mentioned are different.

I think it has more to do with increasing internal pressure blowing seals.

Redline gear oil and Amsoil Severe Gear are imo the best gear oils you can buy. I have Redline gear oil in my truck and Severe Gear in the wife's Grand Cherokee. I couldn't get the factory fill out of them fast enough

#5 in the bullet points. Over filling can cause foaming/air bubbles
