I had a little birdie inform me that ECM of the 98.5 to 2002 are getting hard to get ahold of and I guess one of the logic chips inside is no longer manufactured.

This is not to produce panic... I'm not 100% sure of the information but I'll get more soon...

Well the gent that called me and discussed the ECM stuff with me. He basically told me that the company producing the logic chip quit manufacturing it. Then rebuilder houses for the ECM out of stock. You must send in your ECM to be rebuilt. He talked to several companies and got the same info about stock.

I'm just waiting on a return phone call in the next few days...

Logic chip? EE 101 get some and/or gates and you can build anything. Lol

Seriously though it seems unlikely that one chip would be designed, dies built, and manufacturing processes made for one purpose. More than likely there are alternate options or even flash capable EPROM like chips. These systems are usually software driven not hardware. The amount of complexity in a pure hardware system would be crazy.

Although I could be totally wrong.

No... I never heard back from him. But still most people don't stock ECM for sale they must take in your old ECM for repair and ship back to you.
