Well...after seeing a few RAMs with a 4" lift I finally went and did it last week. This time around instead of spending hours in my garage doing it myself I had it done by Auto Addictions (A2) in Kingston, PA. I had initially considered doing the ReadyLift SST 4" lift kit, but after doing some research and actually speaking to the guys at ReadyLift I decided their kit was not going to fit my purposes of actually going off-road. I ended up going with a BDS 4" lift after talking to other members that already have that kit (either the BDS or the Zone version) and decided BDS was the best route for me. Sam at A2 helped me with the best configuration for my kit. Unfortunately there was going to be a backlog for any Fox front coil overs thru BDS so I had to acquire them thru CARID. In the meantime Sam made calculations and calls to confirm I would still be able to use my RBP 81R Saharan wheels (20x10 w/+10 offset) and JBA Offroad UCAs without incurring the expense of new wheels. We ordered the BDS kit around the beginning of February and were very thrilled when it arrived three weeks later. Then came the install. Shout out to Donny who did the actually install. Of course my truck being a 2012 with almost 250k miles on it...things were not going to go easy.

Here's the morning I dropped it off.

Now the fun begins. About two hours into the install I get a call from Sam that my lower control arm (still the original) was seized and would have to be replaced. Bummer because I had recently when through the drama of changing the lower ball joints. Anyway, two lower control arms, a camber kit, and were back in business. Here Donny had already installed the drop brackets, lowered the diff, and was installing the spacer provided in the BDS kit.

Then came the swapping of hardware to the new knuckles.

Everything was finished on day 1 and I was able to drive it home. Already an immediate difference/improvement in handling and characteristics. I went back the next day and Donny was able to make some further adjustments and install the NX2 dual steering stabilizer kit. Here's how it came out when I left.

I took it on a trip from there putting 300 miles on it. When I got up the next morning it had settled in and I was very pleased with the stance.

Tires still tucked in nicely.

It was supposed to be raining Saturday, but it turned out to be a nice afternoon so I went to the dealership to scout out my wife's next vehicle (or at least what I'm steering her towards since she wants a "sedan"). This counts, right?

While there I happened to notice a TRX so I parked right in front next to it. Dang...my truck is looking good now!

The TRX is a nice truck, but they can keep the $93,000 sticker price! My only concern now is the JBA UCAs. They look "angry" at those angles.

When I spoke to JBA Offroad before doing this upgrade they told me their control arms are normally for "spring" lifts, but I should be fine. I've sent them these pictures to see if they still stand by that statement. For now and 700 miles later...I'm very happy with how it turned out. Again, a big thanks to Sam, Donny, and the crew at A2 and Jack Williams Service Center!

Don't know how much angle inwards you may have left in those JBAs to allow your COs to compress when needed but you may find out if you'll be running the truck hard. Listen for noises thatll be your first sign the BJ is binding when the suspension is compressed. You are not supposed to run that type of UCAs with 4" brackets because you'll be over correcting your uca angles. You can clearly see the why in the pics. Flex your front end somewhere where one of the front wheels can tuck up and check if the uca will bind. I'll say chances are highly likely.

Also don't know who in JBA told you this UCAs were "fine" with a 4" bracket lift

This is from their FAQs:

Q: I'm looking at going from my current Bilstein 2.8 level with your UCAs to a BDS 4" lift and Fox 2.0 coil overs. Will your UCAs still work with that setup?

A: Our JBA-12.00.00.EZ arms were designed for a spring lift not a cradle drop lift like BDS. Not recommended

You'll be better off with stockers or stock offset arms.Fabtech has a stock length offset tubular uniball if you want a performance UCA.

If you're looking for reasons for BDS to void your warranty you're there. Not like that BDS warranty is worth a bucket of you know what anyways...

And when I spoke to the guy at JBA he told me something totally different 2 weeks ago along with an email from them saying I should be fine with this combination. Otherwise I would have gotten different control arms. Thanks for sharing the tread about the BDS control arms. I just got off the phone with JBA Offroad again after reading this. What they said is they don’t recommend it with a BDS kit, but as long as I was able to get a good alignment they will work.

Np. The JBA's have a lot of misaligment so perhaps that's why they said they'll be ok. Weird as their FAQ says don't do it but if they sent you an email stating they'll be ok then i'd think you'll be ok. If you want to double check find something to climb in 4lo and check your UCA angle. That will give you piece of mind.
My Zones were pretty much almost maxed out here, i tested both sides making sure i didn't have any rubbing at full tuck, and everything had cleareance. did it with and without the front sway bar to make sure.
