Not that long because the truck I pulled it from was up toward the front. No air cleaner, yes. Fuel rail and injectors were gone and the TB was unbolted. Only had to take the connectors and 3 bolts off for the cables tho. :D

It was oily as hell and was next to the dirt road running through the lot, so I'd say that's the cause. I'm telling ya, it was never serviced and the plenum was bad blown.

Yup. I could have gotten a tb that was cleaner, but all those had corrosion on the aluminum. SO I took the greasy one. :D

Did you get the screw out yet?
Take it to a machine shop, spend the $40 and have them remove it.

They should be able to get it done speedy quick.

The screws that hold the butterfly in place are not meant to be removed and reused. In some cases they are peened over on one end so they can't back out. Don't try and back it out run it through the hole. Use a small bit and drill it out and hope it comes out, then go find new screws.

Not yet, need to go to the store to get bits. This is weird that we're both having this issue. :wtf:

Its not weird at all, as I said the screws are not meant to be messed with. This is very common on all carbs, tb's not just trucks and cars.

What I don't get is how you're supposed to give it a good cleaning. I mean, sure you can get brake cleaner in there to blast most of it away but there is always some gunk right at the throttle plates that's a problem.

Its called a carb cleaning tank, you soak the whole thing, using a can of spray CARB cleaner is a waste of time and cash. Brake cleaner should not be used on carbs/tb's.

Yeah I knew they could be an issue and knew they were usually pressed at the end to keep them from backing out, I guess... Hoped they wouldn't give me trouble though... I've tried drilling it some, but they are pretty hard and my bits aren't making much progress... May try to machine shop route so I don't mess anything up

Damn. Well, I'll let you proceed for now to see what becomes of it. I was likely going to get a screw extractor kit to see if that would do it.

I'm gonna check with a buddy to see if he has a screw extractor kit with a small enough extractor and if not look into the machine shop option... I'll keep ya posted

A good drill bit should eat through those like butter, try a sharper or new bit.
