I took my footwell lights out and wired in a small LED strip in their place and it lights it up very well

I agree, the new style sucks, so the old style uses the same plug, and it is just "plug & go" ?

Thanks

Yes, that's correct. the older Pod style uses the same wiring.

On the passenger side you just use the indention on the right side. You can't miss it because the shape fits the pod perfectly.

On the drivers side it just attached to the right on the same black mounting bracket that the LED style uses. There is even a little indention on the edge of the plastic that the pod style sits in. I just used some push style christmas tree screw fasteners that I purchased at Auto Zone.

Thanks for the info, I will certainly be changing these out to the "old" style.

Sorry I am using blue led so the pic is kinda bad but old style in my 2018, I used Christmas tree push pins as well.
The old style is much nicer, standard 194 bulbs, tons of options.

Same here. 194 LEDs. I got 10 for about $3 shipped.
It's a head scratcher why anyone still sends the old school bulbs out the factory door

I'm wanting to add rear footwell lights to my 2017 and use the same housing as the front because you can run any 194 bulb in them. Anyone know where I can find the plug/connectors and pins to wire in two more just like the front?9feddff8499da162612988dc8e6d071d.jpg

Express did not come with footwell. At least mine didn’t.
The wiring and plugs are there though for the front. Easy, cheap upgrade!

My '14 express did not. For the fronts you can either get the RAM stock LED ones or the ones from a Jeep that use 194 bulbs and choose your own bulb. The wiring is there on all the trucks we've seen here and no computer (BCM) changes are needed.

Here's a link to the kit for the front: https://www.allmoparparts.com/sku/ramfootlight.html (Check the AllMoparParts subforum here for a free shipping code)

The rears are more complex. The factory parts are more expensive, the wiring may or may not be there depending on the exact harness they put in it and the position of Mars relative to Juno Alaska on the day it was manufactured. And the rear seat may not have the spot to lock the light into depending on the seat you have.

Ok. Cool. I just read the write up on how to install them. Seems pretty straight forward. Thanks for the info.

Did you ever get the part number? I have a 5th gen big horn and the connector is different. I bought the round "old school" lamps to replace these weak yellow leds. Pic is connector for those weak tiny leds.

No I just went to the junk yard and pulled 8 light housings out of Grand Cherokees and cut the pigtails off about 3-4 inches long. The housings and connectors out of the Grand Cherokees are the same as the Ram up to 2018. Added them under the front seats facing reward to have rear footwell lighting with my own t-10 LED bulbs. 214787c1261262679e195bf97b21c28b.jpg3c69b8fb219838450f24be867af9b5ad.jpg

I don't have any pictures of the mounts but I just took 90° galvanized brackets I had from work and used a plastic rivet to attach the housing to the bracket and the bracket slid between the bottom of the seat and one of the cross bars under the seat. They are tapped into the front foot well lights.

Hey. I’ve got the 194 bulbs and I want to change them. Do I just pull the white dome off the pod to replace bulb? Does it snap back on?

Looks to me like you just stick something flat under and POP it off

I like the idea of keeping the CAP OFF...
