Fuel overfill

When I am filling up my 08 the gas pump shuts off like normal, but dumps gas down the side of my truck... Have heard of a friend of mine with this problem as well... Is this common? Any know fixes??

It was probably left over fuel from the hose on the pump

It happens every time I fill. It's like the shut off is too high in the neck. And it pours out before I pull the pump out

It is an issue with the vent on the tank more than likely and only way to fix is replace the tank because it is on top of the tank and is inside of the evap emissions junk.

Hmm my moms 99 does this as well.. Doesnt matter what station she goes to its always overflowing.. curious as to what you find..

Gonna go visit my friends at the dealership for some free diagnostic work (I used to work there) and see what they say.

my 06 does the same exact thing. its pretty damn annoying

I have an 05 Dakota and it does the same thing. In relation, you can't "top off" at all either, my wife's car can hold almost a gallon more after click. But the Dakota just spits and its done.
