Hi there! So I am curious, I have 2 ram pickups and wondering what approx might be the difference in mpg. The first is a 2009 Ram 1500 5.7. It is a 2x4 and has a 4" front lift and 6" back lift, running 35x12.5x20 tires. I believe it has 3.92 gearing, it is stock. Has 40 series flowmaster dual exhaust.

The second is a 99 Ram 2500 V10. It is 4x4. Not sure the size of the lift, but is at least 2" taller than my half ton. Has 35x12.5x17 tires.

I'm guessing I'm getting around 12 combined in my 09 and 8-10 in the 99? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The 8.0L Magnum Sucks for mileage.

Displacement, technology, frame, basically two trucks that only share that they are Dodge and have 4 wheels. Terrible comparison.

I am simply wondering what the difference in mpg might be. Not trying to compare the trucks like you are making it sound like.

HUGE....that's my opinion, f'in HUGE difference. Getting 12 average in the 5.7, do you spend a lot of time in traffic? Are you also compensating for the affect the tires have on the odometer or are you using the EVIC readout? If you don't have a speedo healer or something, then your mileage readings on both trucks is off owing to the non-oem size tires.

OP, you are talking apples and oranges so any all answers you get would be highly speculative.

Check out Fuelly.com
It lets you filter out by vehicle and engine, unfortunately you wont be able to adjust for your modifications though.

I had an 02, v10, 5,speed 4x4. It had a level kit and 33s . Didn't matter how you drove it , it got 9-10mpg. Did a 12v swap and got 20 plus.

Hell, They're your trucks. Take them out and drive them. Why are you asking us?

Dodges are big, heavy powerful trucks. Gas mileage is not high on the priority list.

Some one said apples and oranges... more like a Prius and a Hell Cat.
The differences between the two trucks are not even close to be able to compare. Simply put there is no way to compare them. The 2500 is a older generation Gas truck so 10mpg is gonna be the norm. The 1500 is lifted and running over size tires so the best it will see is prolly 12mpg. Maybe 14 mpg on the hwy with a tail wind. Someone suggested o check fuelly and that is a good idea. Enjoy!!

2mpg better in the 1/2 ton. Unless you start throwing weight in it or behind it.
