I'm tossing around the idea of building a set of custom headlights, but I'm not sure what direction I want to go as far as using quads or oem style projectors (probably would use ebay specials for both unless I found a great deal on either style).

Here's what I'd use for the quad build

Bi-LED Morimoto MLED Stage 3 Projectors
Apollo 2.0 Flat (Black) Shrouds
Profile Hi-Lense High Beam Protector
Profile Pivot Switchback Strips

Using ebay quads and depending on the length of the switchbacks the cost would be (w/O any discounts) ~$650

For the "oem" style projectors
Bi-LED Morimoto MLED Stage 3 Protectors
Diode Dynamics Replacement Switchback Boards (if they fit if not I'd use the pivot switchbacks)

Using ebay oem projectors and depending on the switchbacks the cost would be ~$880

I'm not sure on how I'd lay the switchback strips out here are a few designs. I'd appreciate any thoughts and opinions.

I like oem style projectors retrofitted.
Looks oem+ without looking like “eBay” headlights.

Only advice I have for you, if you go projectors (tyc oem style), the switchback boards are actually easier to install because the original ones are screwed in instead of riveted like factory projectors. I can’t recommend diode Dynamics for the switchbacks. I’m being sent my third set of drivers right now. It’s not like they work fine for a while, and then fail. These are right out of the gate they work for two or three cycles, then get a mind of their own and stop working.

Good to know.
I plan on ordering everything from TRS but they only sell a RGB switchback for the oem projectors. It's only a $40 difference but not something I'd use.

Quads look great retrofitted but with the Apollo shroud u will have a significant amount of trimming to do. Take your time and do a lot of test fitting.

Is there a better fitting shroud that would require less modification to fit? I was only reason I was going to use the Apollo was it's already black and I wouldn't have to mess with taking the chrome off. Not that it's hard to do.

I think anything similar to the Gatling gun shroud. The Apollo shrouds are nice though829509e53a365cb21d5fdff5b9af48c4.jpg
