I'm swapping my 2012 headlights for the 2013s and had a question about the wiring harness. I found the headlight wiring harness for the new projector lights but i didn't know if the plug at the firewall was the same. Anyone know if they changed the connection at the firewall from year to year. Also how hard is it to swap the headlight harnesses. I'm hoping they are the same and I can just swap the harness along with the lights and not have to do a bunch of funky wires at the headlights. Thanks

The part number is 68161332AC. It is the front end wiring supposedly for the headlights. I got the part number after having them look it up using a vin from a 13 with the projectors. It should just plug directly into the lights. I just didn't know if it would plug into the control unit at the firewall so I can swap the entire harness and not have to worry about piecing stuff together. It's $127 nonreturnable so I thought I'd ask before I bought it. The dealer is trying to call Chrysler to see if the harnesses are the same but who knows. I thought I'd see if any techs (or JJs) were around that had worked with the harnesses and knew if the plug into the control at the firewall was the same. Worst case I guess I could cut it just before the lights and then connect those into the existing wire harness to have a good solid connection at the lights.

I'll call the dealer and see if they have it. Its a pretty penny for just a couple of plugs......but, if its a full swap, thats pretty spiffy.

If they have it locally here (parts depot is right up the street). I won't have an issue with returning it if need be.

They told me here if I ordered it I couldn't return it. That's why I hated to get it if I wasn't sure.

The price they gave you was great..........$4 cheaper than I got. LOL

I ordered one. There are 13 of these on the way to depots across the nation right now, so it could be a week before I get it. I asked the guy if they had an issue returning it - "not for our business customers". ;)

So, when it comes in, I'll post up pics!

Also, they make 3-4 of these damn things. This part number crosses to a truck with remote start (has the plug for the hood sensor). They make another one for a truck with remote start, auto start / stop, and some other ****. And one without any of that junk. Of course, the one with none.......can't get it. Whatever.

So, more to come when it arrives!

Do u think that number will work or not since they have different options. One here told me they could get it in a couple of days but they were $175.

I asked the guy about the additional crap with the remote start. He said it shouldn't be an issue, just an extra plug. :D

175 is list........that sucks. Screw him.

Couple days? My guy looked everywhere.......nobody has it. In transit, which could be today, or next week. No guarantee.

I think I figured out what connectors ill need I may try to red neck it. Only thing is getting it sealed up. You think I could liquid electrical tape it to keep it sealed. I may be better off just buying the harness cutting the end to the light and connecting it to the existing harness. $$$

what connectors were you thinking?

And yeah.......its a $$ deal on that.

Honestly, I'd rather not have something that doesn't plug right in ya know.

I pulled apart some of the extra harnesses for the lights and those female electrical terminals fit it pretty well. I'm going by the shack to look and I may try that. If I could find a rubber gasket to go over it I think I'd be good. If not ill just buy the harness.

Here's an update for anyone interested. I've figured out most of the wiring. The three large pins on the middle go low high ground from left to right. There's a group of 3 small pins on each side. The most extreme top left is for the trigger inside the projector. The bottom left is for the running lights and the pin to the bottom right of that one (still left grouping) is the turn signal. The grouping to the right is confusing. The top pin is the ground. The bottom left appears to be another turn signal. The pin to the right of that... No idea. Can't find a function. Maybe a ground for the projector switch? Anyone have a guess. Also anyone have any idea why two pins would trigger the turns? Due to stop hyper flashing maybe?

I got it good enough to get going. I can fine tune it maybe when you get yours back. Ill post some pics and parts up once I get it wrapped up. The female terminals are what's killing me to find.
