What's up fellas. I figured I'd do a write up of my build-to-date, not doing too bad since the truck's about 2 weeks old.
I'm coming from daily driving my '08 Jeep Rubicon, so this is a nice change. The mod list on the Jeep has grown to, lets be honest, epic proportions; it was no longer feasible as a daily driver. Furthermore, driving it to and from the trail has become increasingly problematic...I like to wheel hard, and I tend to break ****. So, a new daily driver that could double as a tow rig was in order. Enter Central Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge in Raynham, MA:
The day I picked it up. '12 White Ram 1500, Hemi, 4x4, Club Cab, Express package. Had to match the Jeep.
All said and done after taxes, tags, and fees, I got it out of the door for just under $28k: end of month, end of model year. Down from a $32,900 sticker, I think I did pretty well (if I didn't, please don't rain on my parade.)
I wanted to go ahead and get some stuff done initially so I could go ahead and start hauling my Jeep around New England, so I installed an auxiliary trailer brake controller.
I also happened to have a Kenwood 9980 head unit sitting in my Jeep, so I pulled it and stuck it in the Ram. Not much need for DVD/Nav, XM, and a back up camera on a trail rig.
Well, I figured since I had the dash apart for the head unit swap, I might as well make it easy on myself and upgrade the rest of the audio. I replaced all the door speakers with Hertz High Energy components, and put two JL W-0's under the back seat.
All these are being driven with a JL XD700 5-channel amp.
I also wanted to get a nice, secure tonneau cover, so I ordered a G2 Backflip to put over the bed.
Although I'm going to spray Raptor Liner in the bed (used it in the tub of my Jeep, great stuff) I put in a bed mat to keep everything not tied down in one place.
So there it is, Hemi Express quick build. I have a few more items down the road to make it my "White and Black" build. I'll be debadging everything. Powder coating the stock 17's black, I actually like the stock 17's, they fit the truck nicely. Going to put in a set of Halo's up front and some smoked tail lights. I'm also on the hunt for some replacement grill and tailgate badged. Gotta be honest, that big ram emblem is super ****. I've spotted an all black Mopar badge on a member truck that would look excellent. Haven't found anything on the interwebs yet so if anyone know where to find, please advise.
Long term, I may end up putting a Vortech blower under the hood whenever RIPP finishes up their programming issues with the '12+ models. I've got one on my Jeep, and it's nasty...I'd love to see what it would do with a baseline of 390 HP.
Here she is set up to tow my heep for a weekend of fun on the rocks, pulling an 18' deck 82" wide equipment hauler. My Jeep squeaks the fenders when I pull it on.
And I'm sure you Mopar guys will appreciate a good picture of the Jeep. Ignore the black wheels above, since I now have a tow rig I'm able to run a set of 37" Maxxis Trepador competition stickies (red labels) mounted on 17x9.5" Spyderlock wheels. Damn thing is a traction HOG now. Will be completing a Dana 60 full float rear, kingpin front swap this winter along with an Atlas 4 speed transfer case.
