I'm not sure, it seems to be recessed into tailgate and one piece. The front one is just clip tabs&its a two piece. So I took it of and did this

Did the same thing on my Charger, and plan to do so on my Ram - only the chrome will be done in black (like on my Charger)...

Would be nice if the rear one wasn't recessed in there though. I'd love to remove it and have a nice clean, smooth tailgate.

And, I have a thought on how to reuse some of the side badges, but I'll have to play with the idea after I get around to de-badging... :naughty:

I really went back and forth on this...

I couldnt decide if I wanted to do it or not. Though I did think Ram went overboard with both the rebranding plus the model number as opposed to my third gen which simply said "RAM" on the side. Then I sat there and looked at my wife's Cadillac SUV next to it in the garage and noticed the minimalistic approach Cadillac takes.... A grill badge, a gate badge, and a small model badge on the tailgate. That's it. By comparison, my Laramie, which cost more than her Cadillac, looked like it was pimped out for a NASCAR race. That's all it took for me to decide to do it.

First pick was taken at 7:00p. The last one at 7:30p. Completely finished.

Why "debadge" when you can "RE-BADGE" in Rebel Ram
Black ??
View attachment 48180

This is the route im taking! Only thing im worried about is getting the black badges lined up and squared up properly! Man I dont want to put them in the wrong spot or have them crooked.

I'm leaning towards taking my Ram to the Dealer or a Collision Shop and having them put them on for me just so I know everything is on point.

@Trupiano,
Thanks for a great video. Debadged my 2013 V6/8spd CC 4x4 yesterday with a $1 worth of 12lb fishing line from Walmart (kept breaking, go for 20lb). Piece of cake.

Im not sure if this was already discussed but I want to take my chrome ram heads off 2012 my grill and tailgate to replace them with black ram heads. What is the process of removing them? Is it just 3M tape, or clips, or something else. Any help would be great!

Front is just plastic tabs. I'm not sure about rear but I'm thinking thru holes and or bolts.

The rear has two plastic alignment tabs and the rest is 3m tape. I used the heat fun/fishing line on the rears. On the front it is clips and about a 1" price of tape in the dead center.

I'd love to get rid of the rear one. I hate badges, they are a pain to wash around and just break up a perfectly good surface space...

Maybe I'm the weird one but hell I just used fishing line, took the letters off then peeled the 3m tape off the truck no residue and took me all of 10 minutes to do both doors lol.

I ordered new black & red hemi 5.7L badges for my truck to replace the chrome and black badges. I was wondering what would be the best way to line up the new badges in the exact same spot?

Any help would be great.

Throw a piece of masking tape right above where the old ones are and use a pencil on the tape to mark the ends. Then just line up the new one with the old lines.

I just did mine today...Do not use heat ! I've been de badging my motorcycles and cars for years. Use fishing line to remove the individual letters or numbers..move the line back and forth in a sawing motion...then one off..with the sticky tape COLD...roll up a corner with your finger so you can grab it and gently pull it TOWARDS you and it will release...its the same process as removing the sticky tape on those new 3m wall hooks...don't just try and pull it off without pulling it towards you to release the glue...once off I used a little goo gone...then buffed and waxed...simple...took about 15 minutes a side to remove the 1500 RAM logo

Alright, I removed my badges and now have the "ghosts" where the badges were. How can I get rid of them?

I used wd40 with cloth. Then after that there was a small amount of residue each side. I ran to auto store got $1.99 goo gone and that got rid of balance of it. 3m had a product also but was $20 so I passed and went too gone. Good luck.

I just buffed the area with a little mothers cleaner after all the glue was cleaned off.
