So I was asked to do a write up on how I removed my door inner door panels and windows to apply sound deadening. I will attempt to do this. I did this alone. It will be very helpful if you have a second set of hands for the window removal part.
Tools needed are:
T30 torx driver
T20 torx driver
10mm socket
Small pick tool
Phillips head screw driver.
Impact driver saves tons of time.
First remove plastic cover behind the mirrors.
Remove trim behind handle by using the pick tool to remove cover for the Phillips head screw holding it in place.
Remove switch panel
Remove all 7 plastic screws holding the outer panel in place with the T20 torx driver
Now pull panel up and away.
Remove the 13 10mm screws holding the inner panel in place. I would leave 2 of the top edge screws in loosely.
Remove speaker
Remove the T30 torx screws holding the door latch.
Pop open square cover for access.
Unhook the door lock and handle rods from the latch.
This is where it is helpful to have a second set of hands.
Remove felt window trim.
Plug back the window switch and roll down window until you get the white plastic holders aligned with the access holes on the tracks. Front hole will be behind the speaker and rear will be behind the square plastic cover.
Using your torx driver, press on the release tabs to remove the window from the track.
At this point, remove the last screws holding the inner panel in place, slide the panel forward towards the front of the doors, slide out and put to the side. Please note that it will be much easier if you remove the wiring from the door panel. Unplug the regulator and door modules.
Now the window glass is detached from the track and it is sitting inside the door. Turn the glass 90 degrees and slide up and out. Easier to remove from the outside of the doors. Now you can do anything you want in there. Perfect time to replace door handles as well.
As always, reverse the process to reinstall. Hope this helps some of you guys!
