My Trouble shooting notes from the 8.4 upgrade thread:
Just because I never figured this out,
What is the 2nd from right pink plug on the back of the radio since I don't seem to have any thing to plug in to it?
Left to Right:
- blank
- White: Radio Antenna
- blank
- Olive: XM Antenna
- Pink: ???
- Purple: Cellular Antenna (or 10K ohm bypass plug)

Edit:
Looking at the schematics, it's the GPS Antenna input? Is everyone doing the mod from RA1/RA2 to RA4 without using this signal?
Does NAV work correctly without it?
Edit:
Yes. Satellite doubles as good Antenna per Loveracing1988's reply
Well not sure what to make of this 2016 radio and whether or not it is actually compatible with 2013 RAM trucks?
(NavRepair indicated it was)
I installed PN: 68258671AE
but there is NO SOUND WHATSOEVER and the volume buttons on my steering wheel do not seem to work with the radio.
Also can't enter/change any settings because it thinks the key is not in the ACC or RUN position?
Strange.
Radio, XM, Compass, GPS, Nav, etc all seem to work, but no sound . still using my old bezel and wiring for the moment.
Might try to temp rig the MTC Bezel and try a factory reset.
Not willing to commit fully to the 4 speed wiring conversion without the radio working.
Edit 2:
With MTC Bezel temporarily installed. Still no audio; Mute buttons work fine. But still no Volume.
Factory reset radio. (Hold hot & cold for 5secs, select Reset to factory). Still no sound. Mute button works to mute/unmute and shows the volume is clearly at (0).
Still will not adjust up/down with right side steering wheel controls (center 'mode' button works) or volume knob on MTC Bezel.
Dang it, Dang it.
Any one know what software version is supposed to be on these 2016 radios for RAM trucks?
This 2016 RA4 shows v 15.25.8
(From Chrysler 200c)
2 problems with this 2016 RA4...
- Can't turn the volume up from (0). None of the volume up/down controls work at all.
- Doesn't detect key in "run" position to allow any changes under "settings" menu.
Factory reset doesn't help.
No change between MTC vs ATC bezels.
Using phone pairing to mute/unmute a call doesn't help.
I suspect it is either not compatible with the 2013-2015 trucks or it has the wrong firmware due to being in a Chrysler 200c. (Can't download any 2016 firmware from uConnect with any valid 2016 VIN because it says radio is up to date).
I think Page 105 post #1050 is getupkid post about the 2016 radio
Thanks. Looks like the others who said so were correct. Not sure how getupkid got his hands on one so early.
Alright, so after having the 2016 8.4an installed for a little over a week, I have had 2 issues. The first is about 10 percent of the time the menu items at the bottom don't show up. The second item is about 12 hours after installation I started the truck and no radio volume. If I scroll the volume knob or use the volume buttons on the steering wheel, the volume level shows up on the screen but is stuck at 0. This issue remains until I disconnect the positive from the battery and touch the negative to reset the system, then again after about 12 hours, same issue.
I reached out to Sean at Schram and he said that if I took it to the dealership and had the sales code flashed that everything will work. I brought it in to the dealership today and they had no idea how to add sales codes. I called another dealer and they wanted $180. For me it's not worth the money with the potential that it won't fix the issues. If anyone wants to buy this radio from me for $500, let me know and I'll ship it out tomorrow. Otherwise I will be returning it tomorrow to Schram.

Here is what I know so far. There are 3 branches of SW for MY16 radios:
• MY16 Normal – Aries – UF, KL, LA/LD/LX, DS, ZD
• MY16 V2 – Gemini 2 – WK/WD
• MY16.5 – Gemini 3 – RU (minivan) coming soon
The Part# 68258671XX is for WK Vehicles (Grand Cherokee) and it runs Gemini software branch.
The RAM trucks run the DS version . DS vehicles belong to the Aries branch of Software.
So it looks like compatibility issues.
Waiting on more info to confirm.

1-24-16 EDIT:
Update: Added some info on Canadian RA4 VP4_CA radios and PN's to
POST 7 and my RA4 Info thread's OP.
These VP4_CA radios apparently support north American maps and may be a better option. Take a look at the post.
ALSO NOTE:
I went back and checked the 15.17.5 2015-2016 FW file that Indaram posted previously (
see post 8) and highlighted the 2 groups of radio PN's for the RAM trucks (
DS series) per that file...
I really think the 2016 radios a few of us have received and had problems with are in fact not compatible with the ram trucks. Here are the part numbers from that file for 2015 and 2016...
-- MY15 DS/WK/KL V2
ecu_part_number["
68238619"] = "68238619AG" -- MY15 VP4 NA
ecu_part_number["
68238626"] = "68238626AG" -- MY15 VP4 CAN
-- MY16 WK/KL/DS/ZD
ecu_part_number["
68258671"] = "68258671AA" -- MY16 VP3 NA <--- THIS ONE IS PROBLEMATIC
ecu_part_number["
68249986"] = "68249986AA" -- MY16 VP4 NA
ecu_part_number["
68258675"] = "68258675AA" -- MY16 VP4 CAN
I have highlighted in red the 2016 radio pn base that 3 or 4 of us (
getupkid & mpgrimm2 here,
oguttier66 here, and
Jake2544 here) have received and had problems with. Don't know how this PN shows as a VP3 in this SW list but VP4 on the back of the radio's housing unless someone is pulling a fast one on the hardware by activating NAV and changing the back cover/sticker somehow.

Edit:
Chrysler VIN Body code info
For brand new codes, a pattern seems to be emerging for the second digit, with “F” representing a Fiat adaptation of a Chrysler code (or a Chrysler version of a Fiat), and “6” or “A” being a Maserati adaptation. Maybe.
