Information on premium cluster upgrade

Logic would dictate that it pick up the body style from the Body Style option in the BCM, not that all things on our trucks are logical...

should a 2016 7" evic cluster work in a 2014 express fully? maybe that's the issue i'm having with the turn-by-turn not displaying correctly. i also have a 2014 8.4an vp4.

Hmm.. I have a similar setup. My 2014 came with the 3.5" EVIC and an RA2 Radio. I replaced the EVIC with a 7" out of another '14 (not sure what, just a '14 RAm of some sort) a few months ago and I just replaced the RA2 with an RA4 out of a 2016 two days ago. After reading your posts I turned the turn-by-turn setting on and took it for a run, it seemed to work well, I got the turn images on the EVIC. So, that at least indicates that it's not an issue with '14 trucks.

Anybody know how to take the lens and mask off, put on a new lens and mask on the 13+ premium IPC?

I can’t seem to find a write-up... or, I’m looking for the wrong thing.

Yep it's really simple in my opinion .

Place a small wedge such as a flat tip screwdriver between the white cluster and the black mask mounting tangs like this .


Then release the 10 ea plastic tabs with your fingers like this .

Then simply separate the face mask from the cluster assy like this .

Then take your new mask position it over your cluster being careful to line up the tabs and simply snap it down in place ensuring all tabs are completely locked.

This is the P/N of the mask I used ...it's one from the Rebel interior .

Did you ever get the turn by turn figured out Sir ?

I have a 14 Ram , a 16 cluster and an upgraded 15 RA4NA ..my truck was an original RA1 & and a 3.5" cluster .
Before I upgraded my Cluster my Nav Showed up in my smaller cluster with a directional turn arrow , street name and distance ..now like yours only street name and distance ?? No arrow indicating which way to turn ? Not a big deal as it shows up in the RA4 radio .
Just wondering if you were able to get the settings right or not .

Hmm.. I have a '14 truck, a '14 cluster and a '16 RA4 running the 17.11.07 firmware. The truck originally had an RA2 and a 3.5" cluster. The cluster was upgraded several months before the radio. The turn info including graphics is showing in my cluster. The only thing I can think of that I did was set the "Nav turn by turn customer settings menu:" setting in the BCM a couple of days before installing the radio.

never figured it out. i also lost the "big horn" splash screen after the instrument cluster mileage was corrected. I can re-add it though through the alfaobd "special packages" settings. basically, the cluster lost that graphic display option, but the BCM tells it to display anyway.

maybe a related question, my sirius XM stations just show up as the station name, and a music note on the EVIC. is that normal, or is the station art supposed to display?

That's all I get as well. When I first put the cluster in I was assuming that it would display the track info for XM, USB and HD Radio, but if I'm reading the UConnect manual correctly, that whole "Audio" page on the cluster is pretty pointless. Just displays the source, that's it.

I don't recall it doing so, but I'll check this evening on the way home and let you know. I thought I recalled that meaning something specific though...

I need to get everything so I can try turning on the "turn-by-turn" and see if that fixes my problem.

Thanks, I read it. It could be a software flash, then. I tried another 7" cluster recently, and it doesn't blink like that. So, it's not the truck, it's the cluster. i hope a software flash fixes that, or even if the dealer will flash it. maybe i'm lucky and it'll be a recall fix or something.

Letting it warn up to room temperature helps.

I used tile wedge shaped tile spacers when i took mine apart ($3 at home depot). Then just went around the edges with a flathead.
