Interesting news on RAM I ordered

greets, new to forum.

Got a call from dealership today on the 2013 SLT I ordered, there will be a 2mos delay on due to lack of parts of the 8sp at factory. Had the option to get truck made w/ 6sp but I'll wait and get what I really want.

Just a heads up for those looking to get the hem/8sp option.

It's a new thing for 2013. V-6 trucks already have the 8 speed as an option. The hemi with an 8 speed was delayed for some reason.

I was going to wait for the 8 speed but changed my mind and went with the 6 speed because all the bugs have been worked out and it's a reliable transmission.

I would wait for the 8 speed too sounds great and we know it will be better than Ford.

I ordered the truck on 21 Jan. Here's some good info from wiki (yes I know, if it's on the internet it must be true) but still, ZF 8HP transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia given the veicles that are already using the tranny, I wonder what specific parts the tranny needs, or what's needed to hook up to the tranny

still, two months will let my down payment earn some interest. Interesting was that the dealership I went to had Ford lot on one side, Dodge on the other. I went w/what gave me what I was looking for for less, and my choice just happened to be better looking too.

Damn man, that's makin me jealous haha! On the other hand though I didn't buy my truck to try and achieve the highest mpg's lol and the 6 speed is still workin great for me.

Screw the old 6 speed which is actually a tuned 5 speed. ZF designs transmissions for Rolls Royce and many others as shown above. I'm waiting for the 8 speed. I have a 6L80E in my G8 that had been made for a few years and I still get the 2-3 flair when cold.

Some of us couldnt wait for the 8 speed. It would have been nice but I think overall it wont be that much greater than the 6. At least thats what I keep telling myself.

I just stopped by my local dealer here in Louisiana and all of the a8's they had on order are now on back order. They said it'll be two months.

Normal order period is 8 to 12 weeks. They never planned on producing the 8 speed Hemi Rams before 3/4/13. I have one ordered. There is no delay-back order

The same dealer told me two weeks ago that they would have them on the lot by mid feb. so this back order is recent news to them.
