Is EVTS mandatory in new RAM?

My 2022 RAM 1500 Limited was totalled last week with only 5,124 miles, when bought it the dealer told me EVTS was mandatory and charged me $1,250.

I'm not sure I'll buy another RAM but if I do buy a 2024 Limited is EVTS mandatory from the dealer? I know I may be able to transfer it, and it's available for purchase online from MOPAR for about $479.00.

I just wonder if the dealer is upselling me on a new purchase, I hear they sometimes install EVTS for their own protection while on the lot.

Unless you have a complete crap credit rating and the finance company stipulates that it must be on the vehicle to loan you the money, then NO the dealership is forcing an upsell on you.
You might want to check with your insurance company as the EVTS may give you a discount, but check to see how much of a discount to determine payback.
