Pics coming I promise, just need to get the truck bolted back together
I installed the TYC 622320 electric fan last night. Need to get my Hemi fever tune back with new fan settings within. But very good news as I turned my AC on to get the fan moving AND I GOT A QUIET ONE! Absolutely zero vibration at all. Max AC kicks the fan into high and I can hear the upper end of the upper frequencies is all! Zero vibrations or bass frequencies which I have a good bit of experience in detecting from my sound/home theater hobby. So I am stoked about that. Also on high it absolutely blows SERIOUS amounts of air! I held an 8x11 piece of paper at least 16" back from radiator (grill is off) and it sucked it right up to it violently. All said this fan is highly capable!
Also installed the Motorad 180 stat from Autozone for $12.99. Coolant temps now will stay from 182ish to 190 ish I believe. When driving around it stays right at 183 most of the time. When parked it can rise over 200 and more (hit 212 last night before hitting road again to cool down) but once my Hemi Fever tune comes back we should be golden.
With the clutch fan gone (was able to get off with vice grips and screw driver in pulley hole and elbow grease) and the cooler temps the truck is really starting to pull hard. There are some instances yes where it won't down shift or is just in lower RPMS and it feels a tad sluggish at first. But if I am crushing at like 25-30MPH and hammer it she just freaking launches! I think the clutch fan gone and the stat compliment the other mods I have done so far very well.
I also am noticing eco is coming on even easier now. It even came on while mildly accelerating up a short incline (about 30ft over the course of 50 yards) which it has never done. I think the engine is running even more efficient now. I also can now accelerate in eco mode which before had to be done with the lightest of touch on the pedal and even then usually it kicked out. All of this on 35's!
Other news is I ordered the Edge racing Torque Converter and a set of 16 OEM NKG plugs from Matt today. We decided on 2800 RPM for the TQ based on 3.55 gears and 35's. We are banking on this piece being the one that connects all of the dots and gets that new power to the wheels. I plan on doing the plugs myself, never done it but I seen others did who never have. From what I have read it is nothing technical, just wrenching and the right tools. Any tips on that would be greatly appreciated. Magnetic socket is a must I read and do it an hour or little more after engine was in use. The warmer temps help the plugs come out easier.
But do I use unit seize when new ones go in?
I will look to add the ATI 15% UD pulley this summer and maybe an 87mm throttle body but not sure about that. Also want to install some Bilstein 5100's and bring my rear end up one click. Would love a 6" lift but that may need to wait until next year...
