REF: Key Fob on a 2013 Ram 1500

Changed the small battery in December, just to be sure all is well. Now, Jan 03, the Fob will NOT lock or unlock the doors, although I can use it to start the truck.

When I push the open or lock button on the Fob, dash light come on??

Tried a new battery, same problem??

Anyone had this problem??

Don't guess the Fob is covered under warranty??

:wtf: Just one of almost a dozen problems I have had with this *&^%$#$%

If you dropped or damaged the fob it will still start the vehicle but the unlock/lock function fails. Take it to the dealership and have them signal test it. From there if the signal is OK they may simply have to re-sync the fob to the truck. Bring both your fobs with you since it has to be done at the same time or your spare fob won't work after. Always reset the fobs as a pair.

It could also simply be the contacts under the buttons are dirty.

I had this issue once. Brought it in, showed the service writer the problem. By the time the mechanic looked at it it was working. This was pre recall.

All's well...

Just left the Stealership!

They replaced the "key Fob" in question with a new one, under warranty :roflsquared:

If you're still under warranty, take it to the stealership. they often have one is stock--which suggests how often they fail.

Had something similar happen to me. On a whim I started the truck with the fob, got out, closed door and got lock button. Now it works.

All good. I'm glad my tips helped. The only thanks I will ask for is keep in mind I work for a dealership group again, so at least if it's a topic I'm involved in, please don't call it "stealership" because IMHO it negates the things I/We have to learn and know to remain viable in this industry and career path. I worked hard to get where I am, college degrees included. (Yes, multiple degrees.)

Luckily AFAIK, so-far I'm not lumped into that term by most I know here. :favorites13:
