Key Transponder or not?

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 that I swear does not have a transponder for the keys?

But how can I tell for sure? I swear I had keys made a long while back at just a Wal-Mart or Lowes or something and never had to worry about a transponder.

But now I'm about to replace the ignition and door lock because the ignition is sticking and want to make sure I get the correct part.

So is there a sure way to tell if it has it or not?

If the key is black, it's just a normal key. If it's grey, it's the transponder key.

I believe they started the security keys (grey ones) in 2006. But not totally sure on that.

My 02 is a grey key.. I think it depends on what you style you have (SLT, SLT Plus or Laramie) Mine is a SLT Plus so it has the grey keys

Ok was not sure on the exact year they started the grey security keys. I have an SLT also but it ahs several features from higher end trucks.

Haha I see that.. My truck is that cross over breed so it may have somethings on it that others might not have until later years too..Damn third gen with the second gen motor.. I won't give it up though..haha
