Is this a bad axle seal or a leaky brake caliper. Im thinking axle seal, but wanted to get a second opinion.

It is really not very easy to tell from the pics. But.....I would lean toward the calipers from the pictures. Would be easy to confirm though.

Looking like an axle seal to me. Mine goes in next week to get my front right replaced. I've replaced them on the rear axles of both my previous Rams (2500 and 3500).

I'm pretty certain thats a leaking wheel seal.

I had to change mine at 15,000 kms. No reason I could find that they leaked, bearings were in good shape, hub nut was tight, but was leaking fluid out.

Another giveaway (which is the most obvious) is the smell of used gear oil. You should smell that leak from 15 feet away.

If the caliper was leaking that bad, you would have had to fill the reservoir at least once.

I would concur with the leaking axle seal. Easiest way to tell is to tear it down and inspect as you go, if you can't tell then clean everything and reassemble and check again after driving a bit, you'll be able to tell right away.

Likely to be axle/wheel seal. Just a few months ago I had to do the rear axle seals in the middle of a 2000 mile roadtrip. TorqueKing.com has everything in one kit at a reasonable price.
