Hi Folks I have a 2017 Ram 2500 and a used Leer camper shell that is made for my model Ram.
The fit up is great except at the tailgate and the camper shell rear door. When everything is closed, it has about a 3/8-1/2 inch gap all the way across, between the tailgate and the camper shell door
Is there a trim piece that is missing or do I need a different piece of rubber moulding on the camper shell door???
Any help on this is welcome!

I looked on their web site and looks like there is a rubber tad below the cap door ! Are you missing that ? I have not had a cap for years but do not remember a large gap like you describe ! Is there a Leer dealer neat you so you can check ? Sorry I am of no help but if you find the answer please update ! I have been thinking of a cap myself so that would be good info :)
Also WELCOME to the group ! Also pop into our Senior thread and say hi !

Hi Im not sure what Im missing, it looks like the rear camper shell door has the rubber gasket moulding from the factory , but there is about a even horizontal gap going all the way across. I wounder if there was some kind of rubber moulding replacement, that extends down from the camper shell to the tailgate or a piece of mouding that was installed on the tailgate to fill the gap??
I will try to get a few pictures in a moment.

As stated above, the older Leer caps used a cap that went on the tailgate for the hatch to seal against. Some people would have problems with breaking them when stuff was being loaded into/out of the bed.
I have the newer style that covers the hatch has a trim piece on the bottom that covers the tailgate.
You might want to inquire if it's possible to to upgrade the hatch to the newer style one and get the power lock option. It wires up to the tailgate lock.

IMHO he is missing the insulation/weather stripping there. JUST not sure if it hangs from the back door, LIKE a big piece of rubber/stripping or onto the tailgate or both..

He is missing the door gap seal:

ADDED: As Crash said, you could go to LEER and get their custom stuff or go to aftermarket, URL I posted above. BUT yer decision.

CRASH: the only person I can think of who has a cap would be CAPN on ED site...

Yea just need the plastic piece that sits ontop of your tailgate for the older style caps before they put them into the glass itself. Once you have that you should be all set. Any leer dealer should carry them think mine was like 50 bucks.

I think the shell was made around 2012- 2013, sitting on top of a 2017, the fit up "aint too bad"

I took a look at that site and scrolled through all the rubber gasket /moulding and found a plastic piece that fits on top of the tail gate to cover the gap:
It would be nice to have a nice piece of rubber moulding to seal the gap ( being the cheap-o that I am) but this tailgate cap might be the better option.
