a passenger is not included in the payload rating period..1450 is 1450...with 700lb tounge, three 150lb people and his other goodies easily puts him over max gvwr.. if he got a 5.7 it helps a bit but mpgs will suffer

2 passenger payload 1282 a difference of another 150lbs. Not 300.

So if OP is 230 you have to subtract the 150 from his weight. Causeing his payload to go down by 80lbs when he gets in the truck.

I agree he will be close that why I would like to see his tounge weight down to 600. According to the manufacture of his trailer the tounge weight should be in the high 500s. Keep his luggage and stuff in the trailer he should have 2-300lbs payload left for items he doesn't want to put in the trailer. If he pulls it on a daily bases may want a little more wiggle room if he goes camping once a month he will be just fine.

And I want to clairify I don't ever agree with being over weight that is a lawsuit and a accident waiting to happen stick to under the gvwr.

Not necessarily sure you're wrong. I used that online tool- turned out to be only for reference to guage the trailer size versus payload on the truck, not actual payload of the truck- and yeah, it includes a 150lbs driver, but also rates all passengers as 150lbs. I took my truck with a full tank right off the dealer lot and weighed it. The available payload on the door sticker compared to the scaled weight subtracted from the GVWR was plus or minus 10lbs. If Ram includes a 150lbs driver for the payload sticker on the door- I think they would be the first, but I may be wrong. Who knows. Maybe the weights on my truck are all screwy. I do know a 150lbs driver is included when determining the GCVWR of the trucks. This is true in GM, Ford and Ram. GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, no others include a 150lbs driver in the payload sticker.

You're right about it being for reference only. The only true way to calculate you payload is to fill up your truck and weight it and subtract that from your gvw. Then you'll have the true number. For now OP can only go by what's on there web page sense he hasent bought the truck.

I have a black express 4x4 with a 32gallon tank - this was with a full tank and me (200lbs) in the drivers seat - in June of this year.

Is the Ecodiesel that much heavier than the Hemi? I have a Hemi 2WD and my payload sticker says 1640.

First post! Yay!:favorites13:

Yikes that leaves you with 1160, if you have the 6800 gvw. Max payload should be 1460 that's 300 off extra 6 gallons at 50lbs ish and 50 for difference in driver. That should only be 100 lbs not 300. There something messed up on Rams webpage. The big horns are little heavier and the Eco diesel is little heavier also that's disapointing.

It all depend cab configureation and model. The 2wd hemi reg cab tradesman will have the highest payload. And the crew cab 4wd 6,4 bed larmie limited with the eci diesel will have the least amount of payload. And it looks like the Eco diesel is about 200lbs heavier.

I was going to put that because I would have thought the same thing. But according to Rams webpage the hemi is about 100lbs higher. But once again Rams web page doesn't seem to be accurate.
