Just Had Some Time To Install My New CST 180*
And It Just Doing The Same Thing The Last One Was Doing
This One Is Cooler Slightly This One At Idle Is Running 190-192
Last 1 Was 200+ Drove Around A Little A/C On 190-192
A/C Off 188-190 I Guess Me And thermostats Just Dont Get Along
But Then Again Im Thinking That 2 Brand New T-Stats Can't Be Bad It's Gotta Be My Installing But Then Again What Can Go Wrong In A Simple T-Stat
Install I Installed Started Put On Incline Added Fluids
Let Sit And Added Made Sure It Was Full But Whatever I Guess This Is One Mod

runs cooler than mine. I average about 205-210 degrees. I never see below 200 even in the winter.

It's not Supposed to be like that they are Supposed to run 180 and cooler
Or even Slighty over but not like that

All t-stats vary. My 180* one runs about 183 in normal driving and gets up to 191 before it opens.

Have you even considered that maybe your EVIC could be off a little bit accentuating the percieved? I know we like to think everything is dead nuts on a brand new vehicle but between where the sensor is pulling the temp from and whatever it takes to get onto that digital display there could be some kind of discrepancy.

IMO if you are seeing your truck run any cooler than it did before the thermostat swap youre doing well. Thermostats arent an extremely precise part and if your truck is running 15-20 degrees cooler than stock in the heat of the south I wouldnt say its not working. FWIW im in upstate NY and a hot hot hot day here is in the mid to low 90s, most summer days its in the 80s and my truck will typically run at around 205-210 with the stock thermostat all day long. Youre running a full 15 degrees cooler in a warmer climate due to your thermostat swap so maybe you shouldnt be so critical of the part or your installation.

Lets also not forget that each truck has different mods, and they all just flat out will react to mods a little differently.

Installed my new one today. have not drove much but it runs 185 to 190. I think that is the normal for this TEXAS HEAT. Matt asked what I ran with the 203 in and I don't remember, but I think it was 208 to 210. so If you cool it down 10 to 20 degrees you've done some good. Adams2013 did you put the little hole at 12 o'clock that could make a difference.

While setting at Idle mine never got over 185 and I let it Idle for 20 minutes making sure all the Air bubbles came out.

Well it's cooler then stock so I guess that's always a good thing

Idle 187-190......driving 190-195 and if I'm on the pedal it's

My temp was running a little erratic till I squeezed the air out of the upper radiator hose. Now its 185 to 190 all the time. Even when Im in traffic and its 99 degrees outside.

It's a thermostat!!! Not a cam....

After my 180 themo install it will stay around 183 cruising.
Sitting in traffic it will get up to 190 or so. I think I saw 195 once when it was really hot, but haven't seen 200.
Stock I was seeing 203+ consistently.

btw, this is with the $15 thermo from autozone:Rock on:

It would make a world of difference if I could control the fan setting. I run a drilled 180 on my GTP with lowered fan setting and it doesn't even think about getting past 180.lol

In my experience, the tstat is only as good as the radiator and airflow.

In my case, my 180 will fully open at 180 and still the temps will rise to a point where the clutch fan is engaged enough to flow the right amount of air. It hits around 210 and stays steady there. Its different for me though, since I'm trying to cool a 5.7 hemi with a 4.7 Dakota cooling system.

Some of you might try relocating your trans coolers to free up the airflow on the radiator to get those numbers down a bit.
