I have a set of ProComp ss leveling shocks that give me 2.75 of front lift. I've read all about the ball joint issues and how these are a cheap alternative to the Zone upper control arms. I am just worried that these are cheap made control arms. I can get the set for like $80.00. How good can they be? Anybody have issues with them? Any feedback would be great.

A lot of people like the Mevotechs. I've also seen a few people run Bils at 2.8 on the stock 13+ control arms and not have any ball joint problems. I have Ranchos and I'm running the stock control arms.

From what I've seen its the spacer kits that mess the 13+ ball joints up. But for $80 its cheap insurance...

I guess your right. I just don't want to take the risk of popping the ball joint. I talked to ProComp and they said to not put the shocks on the truck without changing out the control arms. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time and i just want to do it right. I was thinking of ordering the Zone upper control arms. There around $430. Money is tight but i just want to do this once and not worry. Thanks for the feedback.

I was in the same boat a few months back. I ended up going with the zone upper control arm kit paired with bilstein 5100's set @ 2.1" and I couldn't be happier. I plan on maybe doing a 4" lift down the road also so that played a small part in my choice. I couldn't believe how well made the zone arms were, they are beefy and real solid!

I've had the mevotechs on my truck since September (13,000 kms on them now) and they're great! Waaaayyyyyy tougher than stock UCAs, they're greasable which is nice too. If you get them just have them painted or they'll get surface rust on them.

The Mevo Tech Control are great, so much stronger than stock. I have had them on for about a year now and no problems. I know people say you get what you pay for and generally I agree. You won't be disappointed with Mevo Tech UCAs.

Mevotech is kinda a hit or miss. Dont know if it was the road salt or something else, but both of my ball joins got very very stiff after the winter and exchanged them with rock auto for new ones.

How could you tell if they were stiff?

When I was changing my 5100's from 2.8 to 2.1 and I manually cycled the ball joint to reposition it into the knuckle and didn't feel right so went and got the stock one and it was a night and day comparison.

Oh gotcha, did you ever grease them? I'm just wondering if they should be greased regularly

Where do you put the grease in? I didn't see one of the usual fittings.

You want to grease them every oil change. Everytime I do my oil I grease my zerk fittings on my zones and rotate my tires .

The Mevotechs are greasable? Hell they're worth it just for that...
