I have 800 dolllars burning a whole in my pocket. Im wanting to do some more performance mods to the truck. Im looking for some suggestions.

I have a 2005 Daytona single cab 2WD with an intake, exchaust and trinity tuner. What would you guys spend the money on?

You say that you have exhaust done. Do you mean a full header system and all. If you don't, I would say invest in a good set of long tubes. If you do already have that, get a custom tune done. From there i would start in on the transmission I.E. Valve body. That would probably be the order I would go.

Are you gonna do the work yourself?

$800 would get you a Torque Converter.

Cam swap would be over $800 with all the parts plus the custom tune.

Guess it all depends on what your goal is. :burnout:

I second this. I would go with a TC.

You guys really getting that much benefit from an aftermarket TC...? How do you guys choose the stall that you want? (sorry no intention of high jacking the thread)

I chose my stall for towing. I haven't found a definite answer anywhere but was under the impression that the stock stall was around 2100 rpm. At 2500 rpm towing on the highway I'll be sending all my engine HP to the rear wheels and more importantly, producing less heat.

EDIT: Here's a good read on TC's.

The best way to choose your stall is to contact the guys who make the TC and tell them the mods you have, the mods you want to do, and how you plan to use your truck. From there they can recommend and then build you a custom converter best used for your application.

Hi Indy05daytona,

I would look at cams. If you don't get radical you can still get good gains and since the weak point in these engines are the valve springs I would look at a combo cam and springs kit.
Might run you a little more than $500 but you definitely will feel the difference. Even a small change in lift duration and overlap can yield good HP gains. Also remember that your cam timing will determine where your torque and HP curve are in the rpm range of your engine. So make sure you set that according to where you want that power to be (i.e. low rpm range, high rpm range).

My vote goes to either gears or torque converter.
If you're looking at performance, you'll need both eventually.

Both will make a large difference in how the truck drives, in a good way.

What converter would you guys recommend? I'm thinking 2800 stall. Future plans are heads and cam maybe striker kit, but keeping it n/a

Assuming you got 3.92s an a factory posi I would do the converter first. I had 4.56s for about a yr before the converter. Was very pleased with the gear, but that lil 2600 made the truck really kick some ass

IMO, gears will give the biggest bang for your dollar. A stock converter is a lot of fun with gears.
