Hello! I am planning on buying a Ram tomorrow and would like to have some help!

I bought my first car with cash. Turns out the dealership sold it to me with a blown head gasket. It broke down last week.

Now I have no cash and am financing a new vehicle. I need this vehicle to last me through college.

I found a 06 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi Sport series with 98,000 miles on it. It cost $11k closing cost.

It looks in great shape. So my question is, is this a reliable vehicle? I am worried it will break down and I will be f****

I went to start it the first time and it dragged. I told them to replace the battery and I will come back on Monday to check it. Assuming that is the only issues I plan on buying it.

I would like any and all advice please!!

Thank you

First thing you probably need to do is get your facts straight. Far as I know the 5.7 hemi wasn't offered in the 2006 Dodge pickup. Plus can only guess that by Sport you are referring to a regular cab. If you are serious and not just trolling please provide additional detailed information and a picture of the truck (or webpage of the dealer).

I had an '06 SLT with the 5.7 hemi. Not sure if that was the first year or not though.

Damn, whats your problem man? OP hasn't done nothing wrong and you're being hostile.

The hemi came out in '03. Sport is probably a trim level/package.

:welcome:

Are you sure? I thought in 2006 1500 it came with 4.7 as biggest motor and the 5.7 was available in the 2500 and 3500.

Wasn't meant to be hostile in any way. If I was trying to be hostile I would have chastised him for posting in the wrong section. Wow, why are you being so hostile towards me ?? :roflsquared:

Welcome to the forum! Hope we can help here...

Well, considering you've already had bad luck with the dealer... I'm not so sure I would trust them again... Especially having a blown head gasket after only a week. It's not a bad price for what you're getting. I would have them throw in some sort of like 30 day warranty or something to be safe. If not, I'd probably walk away... I know it's hard to do that but anymore you have got to be stern when making a large purchase such as your truck. I hope this helps ya!

Express it did come across pretty hostile.
5.7 was available in 03 in all the trucks. I had 2 04s with it.
Sport is a trim package with color matched bumpers and grille.
OP I would have the truck checked out at a shop you trust before purchase, well worth the $50 or so they might charge.
If the truck was maintained I have seen quite a few Hemis with over 200k.
