After talking the wife out of the pop up she's been wanting for over a year, we ended up with a Forest river 19 ft travel trailer - 400 lb hitch weight, 4000 lb empty. The dealer we used actually was trying to talk me into a WD hitch so I thought, "these guys must be pretty stand up". Until I saw the guy after me pull in with an F150 to pick up his 5th wheel. Then I figured, they were just trying to sell me a hitch.
I'll have to agree with Thetank when he says it's the responsibility of the tow-er to know what is needed for a safe tow. Of course, when you show a tundra pulling a space shuttle and you're new to towing, it's tough to know what questions to ask.
incidentally, our first 8 hour round trip camping adventure was great! Don't feel the need for a WD hitch.
