Hello fellas,
One thing I've definitely noticed with my truck, again being fairly new to the 5.7 hemi engine's in particular, is there a way to change the oil change notification To every 5000 miles or is there a sensor in the engine that senses when the oil needs to be changed due to lower viscosity levels, etc?

I typically always use 5W 20 synthetic and it seems that I'm changing oil every 3000 miles when it should last well over 5000 miles. Is there a way to modify the "oil Change" chime/notification on these trucks/engines?

Thank you in advance and any information would be greatly appreciated.

It counts the amount of RMP used I think.

Easy way to figure it out... reset the message from the ECU without changing the oil and see how long it takes to come back.

If it is a viscosity sensor, which I doubt, it should come back almost right away. If not the next iteration should light up at relatively the same schedule (3000 miles in your case).

In any case, I would not exceed the recommended mileage at which the oil manufacturer recommends it to be changed.

Hope this helps
