Could just do a magnetic drain plug :)

It's not controversial. Anything caught by the magnet can't wear the engine so if the magnet is anything other than flawlessly clean when you change your oil, it worked. Either way no harm done except the cost of the plug..

I just had to bump it up - purely for your thread title - made me laugh out loud!

The oil filter discussion has been interesting- so kudos!

I run the bigger filter and always have one cars that came with a small one. Typically they are the same price so why not?

with using synthetic oil and your better filters, I believe there's no need for larger filter. How many people do you know that had engine problems running factory size filters??
it's 2019 not 1969 engine technology :D
but whatever floats your boat :Caffeine:

I think Royal Purple makes two different sizes for your current truck. One that is about the size of the stock filter and one that is a little larger. You might look around for some threads about it--I think some guys use the larger filter. I think there is a recent thread about this. I don't remember the part number for the larger one but I think the smaller one is 10-48.
Jay

The larger RP oil filter is the 20-820.

^^^It is the larger filter for the pre electric power steering trucks (2012 and older I think).

It fits the newer ones too and is fine.
