Bummer. I believe when you take it into the shop they drop the trans to get at the rear main seal. Here's a good thread on how to do it:

Once the trans is out of the way just unbolt the flex plate and take off the oil pan....again...to get at the rear main seal.

This is a pic of mine when I had it out.

Thank you very much. I got both axels unbolted, all wires off and the TC bolts. Tomorrow I will get the bell housing bolts and see how the 800 lb harbor freight trans jack does. Any need to support the front of the motor or will it sit straight? Looks like I have just about 6" to move the transmission back before the transfer case touches the gas tank area (maybe egr component).

I'm not sure if you need to support the motor or not but I'll say the the most difficult time I had with the entire rebuild process was getting the motor and trans lined up again. If you can somehow keep the motor where it is by strapping or chaining it to the frame you'll be ahead of the game. When I was putting motor back in it had a tendency to lean back towards the rear.

I can relate, I pulled the old motor and put the new one in and that was indeed the worst part.
