So this is a really annoying one. I had a p0308 originally from a failed lifter and cam. Replaced those and it ran fine for about 100 miles. Well the cam i got from o’reilleys failed from the dowel pin breaking causing bent valves on 1,3,5, and 8 and bending 7 of 8 exhaust push rods. Again replaced the bent valves and pushrods and now have a misfire at idle only on cylinder 2. I swapped coils and plugs with cylinder 4 and misfire stayed on 2. Replaced the injector and still the same. Compression test comes back to 185 psi where the rest are roughly 200 psi. Did a leak down test as well and it passed with flying colors. Then pulled the valve cover and valves and rocker arms all seem normal. I also did a fuel induction and still a misfire. Im at a loss here.

Yes. I thought this too. When i pulled the valve cover i i checked seating and it was right where it should be. Thats when i pulled rocker arms and did a leak down to make sure no valve was bent. Valves came back okay and put the rocker arms back on. Still the same miss.

What condition is the VVT Phaser in that the pin got sheared, and did you check the VVT solenoid for fragments of metal on the screen, that solenoid should have been replaced, you can still replace it, it's located under the intake plenum front of engine, that may be your problem.
